Hi guys we spent time as a team working on a design concept for geneaces. Before I disclose the meaning of the word geneaces and its derivative, I would like to know your views and thoughts on this concept. What message do you feel it portrays.

Please ignore the tag line, not my personal preference but had to come to a compromise. (Prefer the design without one) :)

I feel it says "let us help you grow", puts me in the mind of a dynamic company who want to personally invest in me. Geneaces as in a phonetic play on "geniuses", right?

I think the design on the right looks the best. The blue in the black "g" kinda suggests that you are providing the energy to help me (the plant) to grow.

socond one is much better, but without the blue in the "g"
i can take a wild guess and think that your selling some nutrient water to feed plants? lol

also lets work ON your dreams sounds better i think. overall high quality logo, i think would work well in the natural food shop.

I'd like the left one better if the plant was black and the black infill in the "g" was left clear. Keeping the plant and the gene part of the logo the same colour dilutes the word in my opinion.

It isn't so out of place if the image is the same colour at the end of the word as the eyes automatically reads left to right and does so at your own particular reading speed. Its a bit like &geneaces v geneaces& the first makes you do a doubletake, the second you've already read the word, doing the &geneaces almostbreaks the wording down into sylibols.

Its not that easy to do using an & but I hope you get the point I'm making and view it as being constructive.

Hi Allan,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion, I will try it without the black infill. The design concept is all about the plant growing out from the letter "g", can't disclose more than this until I have gotten more views. The emphasis is around the "g"

Hi Moose,

Thanks for your suggestions and views. I kind of like it. We will be feeding a different type of plant.

"Lets help you grow" is actually very close to the mark. :)
It isn't a phonetic play on geniuses.
Thanks for sharing.

Ignoring the word as I don't know what it means, I saw the image as being something financial (life insurance/pension) or health insurance related.

Thanks for sharing. What I love about your view is the mention of the word "life". You have also giving me something to think about. I guess the word "aces" could be what's driving your thoughts.

Purely judging on the name, current design and choice of colour I'd say Genetically modified crops or something similar.

Design wise its not working for me, it feels forced and the black plant out of the blue and vice versa isn't working. Looks like the designer has found a
vector illustration of a plant and tried to plonk it in the design.
The plant doesn't fit with the choice typeface either. Sorry its my job and I'm always going to have to comment on design.

Be interested to know what the company is all about.

Hi Dot design, thanks for the feedback. We are happy with the concept as the plant is symbolic with the "g". We combined both to re-enforce this. The meaning of the word geneaces.

However, We could have it in this format.
geneacelogo9.jpg

But with the plant properly aligned in proportion to the text. I don't feel it is unique in this format, as there are so many similar concepts with plants.

I will reveal the meaning of geneaces shortly. This is still open to your views.

it doesnt actually say anything to me. The plant, the name, the colours, the strapline - its a mixed bag and says nothing to me so im left wondering, when looking at it on its own. Then again when its on your website or brochre etc the rest of the page details will tell me that as im not likely to see the logo on its own anywhere anyway.

your a web/graphic design company judging by your signature is that correct? should the origin of the name mean something to anyone - will it matter even?

Hi Florence,

I think that this is working alot better, it still needs work but I see this as an on going design development.

I think its tricky putting work in progress logo's/identities on a public business forum like this, as everyone will have a different view and 'design by committee' is rarely a pretty site. Maybe posting on a design related forum would give better and more constructive feedback in terms of design: http://www.graphicdesignforums.co.uk/

What's important is that your client believes that it is communicating what their company is all about and its an identity that the company can believe in, use and extend across all of their promotional material.

As a development at the moment though I think its got potential and wish you well the project, I'd love to see the final outcome, please keep me posted.

Hi SLF, thanks for your honest view and you are right it would be displayed on website, flyers etc with details and contents. An image always tells you something, some designs may state the obvious some do so in many words.

I believe to portray a genetically modified product e.g food etc then a DNA helix structure might play a role in making this image obvious in the logo design. There are other ways but this is the most obvious.

The word aces is strongly linked to poker, gambling etc but it has a different unique meaning that makes it complement the meaning of the word "gene" which is merely the root word for _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

This is the best clue I can give and hopefully this will make things clearer. :)

The winning answer would get a FREE UK based webhosting account for their personal/business blog or website*.

Hi thanks for the feedback, I will check out that forum :) . This thread is mainly to see how people perceive the name "geneaces" in relation to the design.
