Hi I'm not looking for a designer unless you're Peterborough based and do signs.
I'm just after ideas to give signwriters
We're changing the name of a bar to "the boro bar" it'll be a sports and music venue can anyone give ideas on a logo.
Was thinking maybe a mic with cord wrapped around a football? Or shall I go for "just a meaningless logo" incase the music or that doesn't take off?
Any suggestions?

You need to be thinking more about your overall brand.

What your business is about, what customers you want to attract.

Using a football may give the impression that your bar is for football fans only - if that is the case (by the name of the bar) would the microphone put them off, thinking its a kind of sports karaoke bar?

Remember you can not be everything to everybody.

I would suggest you really understand your target marget and in the first instance really push to appeal to them. Including the look and feel of the venue, any special offers etc

Football and music fans are my target audience ... I've no problem on the groups I want to get in nor the advertising aspect to get them in. I'm just unsure of a logo

Are you targetting football fans 100% exclusively? It might be worth considering that you don't want to put off those who might also be interested.

Football and music will be about 80% of our trade. Yeah want others in but surely thatd be more marketing than logo? Want to be known as the main football bar hence thinking of logos along them lines.

You will be better off having a freelance designer to come up with the logo and have a sign company make the signs. Sign companies will offer a basic design for you for free, however a freelance designer will charge you more but they'll have more time to spend on this part.. best to let the sign company make your signs, the part they're best at.. we send our goods nationwide but don't offer fitting.... hope this is of some help :)

Some good points on here about figuring your brand out first.

If you do go with the music and football angle, how about a guitar shaped logo, with a football for the body of the guitar?

Getting a logo designer to design the logo and a sign maker to make a sign would be best. I mean, I never phone a plumber to fix my car!

I thanks for all replies I have adopted someone elses logo that is very prominent in the city so delighted. It's the football teams old club crest but the council had the copyrights ... Peterborough utd have recently changed crest but still simular and council have changed to a more modern "p" logo so thet have given me permission to use. This logo is associated to Peterborough in general as council logo and posh fans will recognise the crest so best possible outcome for me without having to design.

Hi reagarding the pub lettering I'm just using most the letters off old sign and got a chippy making the extras in the same style and getting painted.

But I do need a metal sign that is swinging from lamppost ... Not sure of size but pretty much average size you see outside pubs I'll get back to you with exact sizes.
I have a logo do you make these signs? If so can you give me a rough quote obviously to be amended when we give exact sizes... Just want a guide price to play with as no local companies have got back to me.

Ok because I feel nice today Im going to give you some of the creativity which i OOOZE so rare these days. Anyway...

Picture a Roman centurion in a football strip (of your choice) holding a roman harp and call it Toga and Tunes...!

Thats one billion pounds....! your openning party could be a 'TOGA' party ....!

I had another idea for a restaurant for my brother - a bit more upmarket of course, but hey he wasnt interested so ill give it to you deadlegs...

the name of the eatery wold be called 'Book Your Bird' - it would be a poultry/game bird restaurant, and on Sundays you can 'Book Your Bird' ... derr derr...!
