well, that is a lot of money to pay for a logo design man, you should try like running a DP forum contest, for like 30 dollars you get like 20 or 30 different design choices and you are able to get a LOT of revisions on the final product... all very cheap and some with a lot of quality.

*Cheap* is a major part of the problem when it comes to design.

@Mpg

I think the designs you highlight (raindesign) are quite dated in feel. Cookie-cutter/clipart almost. It depends on your market though. If you're aiming for 'average joe punter in the high street' then it'll probably work ok. You'll need something a little more simple and classy (I hesitate to use the word) if you also want to go for the corporate market.

Another reservation is that the designer appears to be blinding you with 'effects', rather than a solid, versatile design which can be used on almost any media without having to use different versions. Out of interest, has he shown you how the logo (#29) would work in black and white? It doesn't!!!

The only designer coming anyway close to a good mark (in my opinion) is 'danielwatson'. That said, he seems to be struggling to nail it.

I'm about to respond to your PM. :)

Jim Bob (OP)...... I f you want to put a bid out there for a project like this in future, try http://www.freelancer.com/ or http://www.scriptlance.com/
It's free and everything is done by Escrow. They charge $5 per commission. Then you can pick and choose as it's all about bidding on projects and everything is above board as providers are given a rating out of ten upon completion of every project (as do the employers) and if there are any disputes then all they stand to gain is a bad reputation.

Logo by design "Guarantee" or 50dollarlogo is a scam.

They design a basic logo but if you have paid for printing of business cards, letterheads then you have wasted your money.

They will not return emails and their "guarantee" is meaningless.

I am a logo designer and will work for free for you in exchange for a testimonial. The reason being, aside from the fact I feel bad for you that you may have lost £59, is that my laptop broke with the only copies of my portfolio on it, the harddrive went and at the moment I am without a portfolio. Crazy I know. If I can be of any help though to you or anyone else let me know.
That is very good Cybamart. I am looking for some good web/logo designer(i need one logo and websits). If you are interesting i could be your first client :)
Thank you very much

A quick update on the situation with this 'Logo Guarantee' outfit.

I cancelled my order with this firm within 1 hour of placing my order with them as I became suspicious after reading a review.

I finally got a reply from them saying that I will have to wait 28 days for them to process my refund.

Surprise, surprise they still haven't refunded it even after about 20 emails to them and a couple of months of waiting.

Just thought I would post this update so that everyone knows to avoid this joke of a company as I see that they are pushing very hard on pay per click marketing for keywords like 'logo design' at the moment.

The website in question is:
LogoDesign Guarantee .co.uk

Not recommended.

That logoguru site looks well good. I didn't know something like that existed. Makes much more sense than just going to one person. Is that the most recommended site of it's type?

I wish I'd known about it 3 weeks ago before I commissioned my friend to make me a logo. He still hasn't produced the goods.

Whilst I have had a good experience from Logoguru. I really appreciated the input for Mark@Eagle. I think the next time I need a Logo I may go straight to him.

I may have just got lucky with logoguru. Although they do seem to have some good designs. I had to wade through some toff first.

Oh dear, I had a nasty feeling after a week went by and nothing happened, I have a Toll free number that is not answering. I also needed a new logo for another part of my company very quickly. The site looks very professional but obviously not. This is the first time I have been scammed and it doesn't feel great. :(

I am now over £50 lighter and with out a logo for an important brochure that I had invested in.

Still I'm glad I didn't add all the add ons I was offered !!

This is a great forum, glad I found it .

Don't suppose the gent above is still offering a free service with good testimonials ???

Sorry to hear you got burned. It's the reason why we professionals beg clients not to go 'cheap'. It never pays-off.

Yep........ I've been stung once and hopefully never again, Eagle I agree that cheap sosmetimes means nasty but I provide services to schools at cost and we are highly thought of. Sometimes it's more about principles than money  although as I am told by my accountant there shouldn't be friends in business but I have to say it's good to help others out now and again :)

Thanks FBC I have sent you an email to see if we can help each other :)

This looks like a great forum, I will scout around and se what else I can find.

Thanks all
Neil

I agree with you !

I purchased one (sept 2010) and not only did they send the exact file back to me as a proof, theyve copied the work ???

They asked me for ideas and thats what i sent them but basically copied the one I sent them which is a breach of copyright law.

For all you people who want their money back you can get it back !!!!

You write to your bank with the transaction details and ask them to refund you the money under the Visa Chargeback Agreement Rules, it is similar protection to the Section 47 of the Consumer Credit Act.

Money info on this can be found on Martin Lewis's website

Moneysaving expert.com

It may only be £25 / £50 but how many others are they scamming ? dont let it go, get your money back folks !!!

I recently purchased a logo & webdesign package from LOGODESIGNGUARANTEE.CO.UK. Anyone considering using this firm or any of its associated websites should find out as much as they can about the firm. Check out the company's location/address etc and try to find out as much as you can about this business and who they are before you part with any money. Give the company a ring and try to speak to customer services. Ask them for their full business address and if one is provided check it out. Legally the company should have its address on its website but does not. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

The point being made about logodesignguarantee.co.uk is not so much that they don't have their address on their website but that they make promises and claims on their website about the quality of their designs and their 100% money back guarantee, then once theyve got your money, youve got no chance of getting it back if your not satisified and want a refund according to their terms & conditions. This is definately a dishonest firm and anyone considering using them should do so with their eyes wide open - research this company and see what other people are also saying. I have today spoken to consumer protection and trading standards. Hopefully this firm will not continue to be allowed to scam people.

Hi,

Don't know anything about the company mentioned in the original post...sadly I think there are plenty of design scams out there...We have an affordable (£49) logo design package which is very popular (logo design) so getting a logo designed doesn't have to cost a lot. Paying a lot also doesn't mean you are necessarily going to get a good service either...sadly.

I would always check you can call and speak to the person who will be designing your logo, whether you are paying £20 or £2000! Also check their tesimonials and portfolio.

Good post from Gary...make sure you get your money back however small an amount...

Hi guys,

I used Logo Design Guarantee early 2010 and I can say I would avoid them at all costs ! Payment was taken immediately and I received some logo designs within a couple of days. It was clear they didn't listen in ANY of the brief I had given them. They ask for the opportunity to redraw, so on two separate occasion I allowed them the chance to do this and still the logos were very basic and in honestly looked like clip art pictures.

The designs they came up with where not suitable for any B2B Corporate organisation. You may possibly get away with some of logos if you were looking for a logo for a local Window Cleaning business/Double Glazing Window company etc….

Although on countless occasions I spent hours emailing them to explain my brief in detail, it was pretty clear the designers were less then talented and lacked the ability to listen.

I requested a refund as per their “100% refund guarantee if your not happy with the designs” and I was emailed to confirm the refund has been made and would take 14 days. 14 days later I still hadn’t received any refund and I emailed them again but this time it was ignored. So another week passed and I still hadn’t had any reply to my email so I emailed them again and this time received a reply to say they were not sure why I hadn’t received the refund and they would investigate and come back to me. Guess what they didn’t come back to me.

Their delay tactics went on for 2 months till I eventually got Visa involved and sent Visa all the copies of the emails to/from, screen shots of their website confirming the 100% refund guarantee and some other information they required and within 7 days Visa has issued me a refund.

From experience, I would strongly advise avoiding Logo Design Guarantee unless you are looking for a very very very very basic design, you do not wish to have any input in to the design brief and you are not bothered what the end logo will look like.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Ricky

I used this company. They did the design for me and e-mailed me everything.
Guaranteed me lifetime change of logo if required.
Went back to them, in order to get the logo slightly changed, e-mailed them 20 times, no reply.
I was gutted and know these people ripped me off.
I think they are related to 50 dollar logo too, as this was where i initially started receiving my e-mails from and then they disappeared and never replied back.

If your hard drive went on your laptop, ll is not lost! Most of your work could possibly be recovered. In return for your kind gesture to the OP, I would be happy to recover what I can from your HD for free.

I paid £20 for a logo and £599 to have a website made. the logos they sent were so bad that i could have done them myself, bad quality, clip art stuff. after seeing they weren't capable of designing a decent logo i asked for my refund for the web design which i didnt think would be a problem since its a 100% money back gaurantee. The same woman answers the phone called Wendy, and insists that my refund will be processed within 5-7 working days. I have called ever week for 2 months and she says the same thing, more recently she has been saying its actually been processed and when i tell her its not received she says ill look in to it and get back to you whicj of course she never does. If you ask to speak to a manager she says hes busy...
It looks like an authentic site and i hope noone gets screwed over like i did especially just before x mas!
so after realizing id been [removed by mod] I did a little research. Its an American company registered in Wisconsin by a man called Scott Sutton. I wanted to have this site shut down as they are in breach of contract but since they are American and im in the Uk its very difficult, this is why they target the UK people. The line is delayed and when i asked her why ( the first time i spoke to her she said cause her head set was broken!)
Im very upset that this company is still running and [removed by mod] people and there is little that can be done. I called crime stoppers and they couldn't help, then i called a fraud prevention line and they also couldnt do anything... uurghhh! very frustrating! Wendy if you're reading i want you to know that one day i will get to the bottom of this and make you pay every single penny back to the people you have [removed by mod]. !ou are the one responsible for this! its discusting!
thats all i have to say, DO NOT USE LOGO DESIGN GAURANTEE.

ALSO FEEL FREE TO SPEAK TO WENDY HERSELF AND SAY WHAT YOU THINK, ITS A FREE NUMBER 08007569910.

THANKS

This thread is really interesting and enjoyed reading how Mpg and jimbob79 have got unique logos by launching contests on different contest sites. After reading this thread I also launched a contest on logoguru.co.uk and was really happy to get a great logo.

And I agree with Mpg saying: " Lets get 100 brains on the go and see what they can come up with ;)"

And honestly speaking, I did not find this site expensive at all...the way quality logos are submitted here by creative logo designers is truly amazing.

I guess I must be the exception to the rule - I recently used the £25 logo offer and got 6 designs from them, 5 of which I would've been happy to run with (1 the wife thought looked too much like a logo for a new brand of femine product lol).

Eventually selecting the "best" one of those 5 I had numerous revisions made, only having to explain one of the changes a couple of times which the apologised for not getting right the first time round.

From my point of view very happy with the service and currently undergoing a trademark application on the result, according to IPO just before Christmas is is entirely eligible and is now in the 2 month holding period.

Regards
