Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for finding KW search volumes at a local level in the UK?

Preferably a free tool if possible (that's maybe not Google?!)

Thanks

There is no tool. Many of the tools might guess but that's about as good as it gets.

Google is the most used search engine so Google must have the actual data for all types of search but I've never trusted the figures Google gives from its Keyword Planner tool, the data is rounded up, is way off reality and doesn't line up with other Google tools.

There are other tools that use the same data from Google's Keyword Planner tool via their API so that means that the other tools are off the mark too. There's ahrefs keyword tool that's well regarded which has a 7 days trial for $7 and that's probably the best of the bunch out there but always take whatever data you see with a pinch of sale and make your 'best guesses' from it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Tin. Yeh, I tried some work on a KW project and the majority of local search volumes came up with '10' for virtually everything! I think Google are a bit more generous with their numbers if you start paying for PPC, but that's not where I want to be. Appreciate your time and advice! Cheers

The problem with local keywords is the volumes are just too low. There isn’t enough traffic to trigger the algorithm.

In any case, the google KW planner is an adwords tool and won’t reflect organic searches.

yeh, I'd agree with that

I didn't make that <obvious> connection in my head about planner and adwords!!

My mission today is to get 'buy in' that the Uk monthly searches are enough to create a SEO strategy on for a client who is somewhat obssessed with 'local search volume'

cheers again, fisicx
