Live Chat from My OS Commerce store

Hi all,

I was wondering about installing a "Live Chat" thingy on my website. I'm going to have a person in the office near enough all the average working hours, so it would be nice to "Chat" live with a potential customer.

The good thing about this is that when they are not logged on, then the image changes on the site and people are requested to leave a message.

To be honest not everyone like making inquiries over the phone, so a live chat would be ideal to tempt them ;)

Can anyone recommend any, i don't want to pay silly money, free is even better

Plus your recommendations and Pluses and negs etc...

Thanks guys

Gerry

Comm100 is by far one of the best live chat tools i have ever used.

You can use their visitor monitor tool and see who is on your website and invite them to chat if you think they need help (be careful with that :D) Great software though.

And best of all it's completely free.

Thanks guys for your quick replies :D

i've looked at all of them and have decided to go with Livezilla, I was really impressed at what you got and all for free, you would beleieve some of the prices some companies are charging.

Thanks again

Gerry ;)

What error are you getting? You need make sure you have created a new MySQL database for livezilla. I concur with the other users Livezilla is great. It is worth the time setting it up. If you are having lots of problems you can always raise a support ticket with your host?

I used live zilla on one of my websites, and have been monitoring for sme time, its an excellent application.

However, I found it to be less than useful.

In my experience it was rare that a conversation lead to a sales, What I found was more time was spent on silly support enquiries. most of them questions were general PC support questions nothing to do with my products. So it was less than productive so evaluate it! and be sure why your installing it, will it be to support or to sell.

When it came to sales i installed Intellichat instead. can be more difficult to set up but is unmaned so if the enquiry seems sales related intellichat can ask an initial series of quesitons and depedant on the answer refer the user to live sales chat. if the questions are more support related it sends them to the support forum.

as for setting up either systems intellichat or livechat if I can assit message me.

Carlton.

We just had zopim installed ;), thumbs up so far from me:D

Well having made a mess of installing livezillla, databases and all that, I gave Zopim a try and was VERY impressed, just a small script to add to your site and everything else is hosted by them, now thats a great idea ;)

Got it up and running in under 5 minutes and its a thumbs up from me also :D

Thanks Fuzzy :p

Thanks for the love! We know how frustrating it is to get things working sometimes.

Hence, we do try our best to make it as simple as possible for users to integrate Zopim. Other than pasting a small script to your website, we also offer 1-click installation in oscommerce and CMS like Shopify & Wordpress.

glad to know that our solution has worked for you, just give us a shout out if you need anything!

If i'm honest Leslie then i must say how easy it was to get onto my site. I tried with so manay others which involved installing databases, copying files etc.. too much of a headache when all you want is a simple chat script. Plus it looks good on my site too ;)

Cheers

It is interesting to see the solutions that some people use. I think the answer is that no one system suits everyone. If you are techie then something like Livezilla is great, it is almost listlessly customisable for the front end, free and runs on your server so your never reliant on a providor. On the other had if your not a techie then a hosted solution is probably for you and it looks like there are some good options their too.. For me Livezilla every time, but then i'm a techie. :)
