Perhaps we could post up the free resources we know about which can help us and particularly new businesses and forum members to get some additional exposure.

I don't know many but I'll start with

Google+
Yell
Thomson Local
NetMums

Add your own to build this out please

Great list. Don't forget the usual social media sites.

Aside from Google+, you have Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit (though quite a different audience but still good for online exposure), Stumbleupon (for bookmarking)

well, the main question is >> what do you want to advertise? ... company, product, service, website, car for sale or something else?

And is your target market consumers or other businesses?

I've got my website listed on scores of online directories and I have to say the visitors we've received over the years from those directories has been negligible.

There are so many better ways to target your customers online.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply.

You can visit the Applegate site and click "Add Your Company" on the top left of the site.

This will take you to the registration screen where you can complete details of your business free of charge to create a page to promote your business on the site.

The page will allow you to be found in search results on the site when other business are looking for suppliers.

As the site is indexed by products and services (as that is what people actually search for , not company names), to get the best results you can create listings for your specific products and services for a small monthly charge and contract periods as low as 3 months at a time.

This can now be done completely online and you can edit and add information as often as you like through your login.

Should you wish to talk to a Account Manager, who can assist you can by calling 0845 600 7177.
