Ok following on from the two posts regarding link building that are getting a lot of comments today, some great information as always.

This is my theoretical question

I have followed the advice and have written some great content that I am sure people will link to. Where do I put it to get most exposure?

On my site - New page or exsisting page?
On my blog
On an article site
On a press release site
Somewhere else

You see I write content for my blog and put content on article sites but don't see to get much back in return, should I be putting my content somewhere else? or wrting better content?

Put your content where it will earn you money. If it is catching search traffic then you want that traffic on your money pages - not on some blog that nobody is ever going to read.

The aim is to get it out there as much as you can :) Everywhere really.

Nevertheless, Don't duplicate the content.
Think about who will see your content in each area and what you want from the areas. Then post the relevant ones in the right places :)

Hope I could help in some way

Put it on your site but integrate all the lead generating content. I suggested to you a while back that you needed a quick contact form on every page, this is a perfect example of why.Suppose a visitor does a search, sees your listing clicks and reads the article. If you have various methods of getting contact or requesting more information or applying for a search then the chances of making money increase. If you don't then they will say thank you very much and bounce off the site.

Graham, I appreciate your comments but would also appreciate if you didn't put things you have told me privately on a public forum. I come on here to learn and debate not to specifically to make changes to my site.

Put it on your blog or site (does not make a lot of difference) but make sure you make it popular in social media and people actually read it.

If its really good content i would not recommend putting it on Article site or PR site..

I would rather recommend putting it on yoru site and then promoting your site on places like digg or any other social media sites related to your business..

There's a difference...
If you want to have more content on your site then put in on your site or blog.
If you want more backlinks then you have to spread the articles to article directories, other blogs, PR sites, etc. Just make sure your articles are unique and diversify. Search engines don't like seeing the same articles everywhere (althogh posting the same article to a few article directories is fine) and it's a bad idea to have all your links coming from one source/technic linke blog comments.

Mucho apologies. The point I was trying to make is that you can't do anything in isolation. Web design and development is a holistic process so it's not so much a question of where to publish the new content and more a question of how is this content going to provide benefit to me and my visitors.

Crossdaz has a point! You should follow your traffic rates instead of trying to organize a structure that you consider, at this point, relevant. Your question is, in fact, very difficult to answer because there are too many variables in the process. Do whatever does good to your traffic and be patient as it may take some time before you see the results.
