    Hi, can anyone suggest a good/trusted backlink builder that's a) reliable b) not going to put us at risk c) actually delivers over a period of time d) carries the work out in-house rather than farming it out.

    Our sites are technically very good, the only thing missing is trust, so need links.

    Not interested in quick and easy and budget isn't overly an issue.

    No PM's touting for work please, unless it's pointing me in the direction of a useful source.

    How do you know your sites are technically very good? How do you know you even need links?

    Your post seems to suggest you just want links to gain trust. I'm not even sure what you mean by that. If your sites are technically very good then you should already have trust, all links might do is improve ranking. But a very good site can rank well without links. So I'm just very confused...

    We aren't new to SEO or ecommerce and have a good understanding building a technically correct site.

    Gaining trust does improve rankings, and yes, that's what we want as the majority of our cat pages are sat on P2 and need a boost. The sites are in competitive niches with big brands.

    Can you recommend anyone?

    Do you want to buy backlinks and not to put yourself at risk?
    On my opinion, and without a risk it worth to register in popular niche forum, communities, social groups and try to be active there.
    Second, use social channel, but not a mass link bombing. Develop you social network accounts, reply customer, take a part in research, survey and etc. Try to build strategy: what exactly link do you need, what do you want to get - traffic, customer or brand awarness.

    Backlink builder don't get you trust without strategy.

    Still not sure what you mean by 'gaining trust'. I'm not doubting your skills and experience but sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can spot things that you have missed. Which means you may get onto page one without link building.

    PS: I thought one of my sites was as good as it gets until I asked for a review and a glaring error was pointed out. A website review can be a real eye opener.

    The best way I can explain it is that we have a number of links (not loads) that are gained from places that aren't easy to obtain them from, there aren't many from the referring domains and the links pointing to them are good.

    They had quite a positive effect on rankings but the best 1's by far were the links from some of our manufacturers as it was effectively like saying to the almighty G "we trust these guys to stock and sell our gear, they're okay", hence why I call it building trust.

    I should add that I believe it'll only take a handful of quality links to see a big difference here (and speed up the crawl rates) as the content, nav and site structure had played a big part.

    Link building is not the core on this issue and also the links but its all about your website.
    How good technically your site is?
    Does your site answers your target audience?
    Does your site pages engage with the users?
    Is it a trusted source for the people?

    Doesn't matter how 'attractive' a site looks if its has no inbounds links to it - no links = no traffic, then we got quality of links - which is another subject in itss own right and far difficult than most can do.

    Links are the #1 issue concern websites today - nothing more important than eyeballs to your site.

    Everyone thinks that rankings equal sales, its doesn't work like that - the human factor gets in the way to conversion - it not a search listing thing, its a human click action that means the sale.

    For sales to take place, a site needs to convert in enough numbers, not enough ytaffic of the right type and you have nothing to convert anyway.

    What is this obsession with rankings - do people get off on this or what. Whats funny is they think its some sort of success to get that response from say 500 visitor - it don't mean jack if visitors wont convert.

    Only manual link builder will help you to build good trust rate. The high quality and niche related link building will increase website presence in front of the world. Use of any tools increase penalty risks and loss of trusted users. Hire any expert for your business to build good links.

    It doesn't matter if a site is technically the best in the world with the most engaging copy if it doesn't rank it's pointless.

    If a site ranks very well and has plenty of visitors but doesn't generate sales then it becomes fairly obvious what needs to be done next and in this case the OP is asking for something specific and doesn't need to be told that he doesn't need to increase his web presence from page two as it's fairly obvious to anyone that he won't generate an income from page two of Google

    face it, all these 2 bit sole trader sites doesn't get traffic anyway, it not a high traffic type of site, and will never get hoards of visitor cos it never get the links needed as never will link to it in million years - they r just sales brochure... no good content to draw people in.

    Sole trader sites need regular sales, to get client, but will just end up yet another sad tale of a fortune spent but not returned cos the worship of rankings doesn't make money and all sites will just slip into the huge haystack is the web, never to be found like that needle. Lots of those guys trying to rank with a bunch of useless long tail words few will ever use, its very funny indeed to watch and talk about - but is also a very sad circumstance to be in, and the fact so many do this time and time again, proves one thing - they don't want to listen.

    Never trust a link builder, guaranteed its 99% spam every time and the consequences can be bad, rank-wise and legally for linkbuilder'd client. Safest option stay away from it, as buying links direct is safer and you get to check out the supplier first hand - cant do that if you don't know where your links are spammed :)

    To be honest we are upating our entire website at present so it will have a new, more conversion driven design with loads of case studies onsite. So we've left the case studies empty as all the content is going onto the new website.
