Hi all. Our product goes live in 2 months. Is it ok to have a landing page that shows our products and to be added on a waiting list or is it better to just wait till we go live and have an actual product? Thanks

As long as it is made clear that the product is coming soon I don't see a problem

In fact I think it can be a good thing if you have a pre-order system and accurate date of when it will be available (put a countdown on the page)

Amazon and pre-order books comes to mind, I've pre-ordered numerous books which are advertised long before they become available.

You should have a coming soon ... "reserve your item now" type page

Heck, you could be making sales and cashflow before it's released.

I did that with one of my online training products - we made £3,000 and the thing wasn't even available at the time

So then we made sure we made it great to ensure those on the waiting list got enough value :)
    Go for it !

That’s interesting I wasn’t sure whether users would give their emails before the product was ready. We were thinking of providing an early bird discount the google ads to get customers on our landing page.

@Emmk - what sort of product are you selling?

Probably not a good idea to run an ad campaign yet, you could end up wasting a lot of cash.

Yeah, you could also get a bit more fancy with it and add a Facebook Pixel to the landing page
THEN - all those that landed on the page but didn't buy - you could run an advert on Facebook to that group of people when the product is ready (As they possibly didnt want to buy as it didn't exist)

That way - you're getting some pent up demand so that when the product is launched, you'll get some more sales.
Obviously, life isn't as easy as this ... but its a very good start if the product is good and the demand is there

    Good luck !!

@lattod - the tracking pixel only works on browsers and devices that allow tracking. You are only likely to capture the details of a fraction of the site visitors.

We are offering an online demand platform that allows students from primary to secondary to practice maths, English, science and geography. Our product will be tailored to the students along with the national curriculum. It will also be AI powered so will make sure the parents can see the child’s progress against national curriculum and help them achieve more. It will also allow parents and teachers to set work for a child. This will be for both public and private schools-including entrance exams.

In that case probably not worth doing advance marketing. The competition for online education tools is very fierce, parents will want to see the product. If you just have a landing page they will head off to your competitors.

Wait until the product is ready then do a soft launch to get feedback. Test and adjust then go for the big marketing spend. But wait until later in the year as you have missed the window for this years examinations. When I was tutoring parents began looking for support around new year.

Thanks. At the moment our biggest challenge is adding 100 000 questions to our database. We were hoping not do it manually but we may have to :)

Apologies I can’t see it, not from from my end, not intentionally anyway. I can’t see an option to delete anything :)

No worries, I don;'t think it was you.

Admin seems to respond very negatively to anything I reply to.

So I think it was them to be honest.

No worries - best of luck anyway and have a fabulous Sunday night !!

How did you get on with recruiting teachers to help with this?

They provided all the questions, answers, explanations and we’re still working with them. We just have to add all the information in our database manually
Pay freelancers to do the data entry. Might cost a bit but it will get the job done far faster than you can.
