Have people seen the John Lewis Ad yet?

After what I think have been the worst Christmas ads for years, John Lewis give us theirs.

Best ad since the lad waiting to give his present in my opinion.

I have liked most in the past, this one is, well, very inspirational and conveys the true Xmas message IMO. 10/10 from myself. A lot of companies could learn so much from the whole John Lewis ethos.

What I really like about it is it is nothing special until the realisation of why he's doing it hits you at the end.

Some saddos are already complaining that either it's not Xmassy enough or that JL did not do proper research about fostering.

I'm a little unsure as to how it fits in with Christmas other than it's a time when everybody looks out for and compares the various adverts so will get more hits?

Also highlights the fact that marketing doesn't need to involve shouting your name and your message at every opportunity

The little things mean the most, as long as you've got a massive big house and plenty of money and space for all the John Lewis decorations kind of drains away the joy. Friend of mine fosters in her small semi detached!

Still, at least they didnt park the child outside in the snow like they did the dog that year, until that caused outrage and it got changed.

On the other hand, crisp Winter days, picturesque snow scenes, cheeky Robins and extended families enjoying a festive meal together seems an equally long way from reality in our rain-slashed swamp.

Like Red Nose Day and videos of starving children in Africa, I think the message will be lost when the Turkey is carved and Crackers pulled.
