is video posting an effective way?

Think of it from a user perspective. Any content you produce and publish should have your audience in mind. "Will they be interested in this?" "Will they engage in this content?"

One thing is for sure though. Videos attract me. When there is a post and there is a video I play it first before reading the post.

So do I. But only if cute kittens are involved.

Posting a video will be good to generate interest on your services or products if you post it on your website. The least point is that most people watch videos first, saving them from reading any other page like the "about us" page as introductory videos usually contain the information that they need. Though if you'd target Youtube as part of the process, might consider posting new videos regularly (like a blog) so you could gain more followers. And embed that video to your site, so you could have a clean view of how many hits did your video actually got.

Hope that helps,
Erik

Yes, video posting is an effective way to increase your site traffic when post is made on high traffic site like Youtube. You can add a link on video which will be directed towards your website. This helps to promote and optimize your site.

Youtube is a great way to increase traffic especially if you have a huge following already for your business. If you have the time to create the videos then why not use Youtube as a way to promote your site and gain more vistors. As has been said above and I do agree with it, having regular posting of videos like a video blog is really a great idea, it keeps your subscribers interested.

SEO rules are always changing. Google is constantly improving their software to 'root out/remove' websites that 'cheat' by adding non-relevent content to get better seo. Long term, the best advice is to structure your site well and have lots of original content thats relevant to your websites subject. google will recognize and reward good websites, and penalize poor ones. Short term gain may lead to long term pain.

Video posting is an excellent method of promotion. Video posting on You tube may not improve your SEO as I am not sure google currently 'count' the links from youtube.com as 'backlinks'. But, by using it and the other sites like vmeo, daily motion and these others(whos links DO count i believe) you can attract many new people to your site. Use the video descriptions, use good keywords.

You may not get the magic top link on google from them but they will definitely be worth your effort. Good old fashioned hitting the pavement and doing leg work to get people to your site.
