What I have noticed recently is people giving users an incentive to like the page.
For example a page I saw the other day - http://www.facebook.com/PrintPrintLtd
They enter every new person who "likes" the page into a prize draw for an iPod shuffle.
The downside of this is that some people will like the page purely for the iPod. But you will get a lot of genuine potential customers liking the page, then you can promote your business through there.
Isn't that wrong and against the Facebook terms and conditions?
Not too sure to be honest. I have never tried it as my products aren't really made for facebook fans so I haven't searched too much into the legality of it all.

I have been doing all that stuff for 6 months and its just starting to pay off and get the engagement and interaction now - It is hard work but worth it and I have over 750 fans now!

Offering incentives for Facebook likes is indeed against their terms of service.![]()
Its not about quantity but quality...I would much rather have a few dozen followers who interact and have an interest in what you have to offer.

More than that, it's 30 million doors and a proportion of those hang a sign on the door saying 'I WOULD LIKE TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU (or help you champion your business to others)'.In a nutshell, there are over 30 million UK
Interesting point. Some pretty big brands, in fact many people, (including us) do this as a matter of course.
There are dozens of facebook marketing gurus 'selling' get 10,000 likes using the 'giveaway' or 'competition' in exchange for a like (and e-mail address of course, a like isn't worth as much as an e-mail address)
If you read clause 3 & 4 carefully you will see
3. ... not automatically ... i.e. someone can like you but has the option not to be automatically in the promotion
4. You must not condition registration or entry upon the user taking any action using any Facebook features or functionality OTHER THAN liking a Page, checking in to a Place, or connecting to your app.
...they are actually giving permission to use a 'like' as a condition of entry.
So our competition here, for instance

- requires you to 'like' to enter the competition (complies with clause 4)
- does not automatically create an entry if you 'like' as you have to enter further details to fully enter
So, along with the 'Facebook not involved' disclaimer (clause 2), and if is definately a Facebook app (clause 1) feel this complies with the F/B T&Cs.
