I have recently started a new business and my accountant has listed the registered office at his offices. Which address should be shown on my invoice? The registered office address (accountants), or the trading address (my home address), or both?

Many thanks,

Bill

Your stationery should show the address of its registered office, if this is your accountant's address use this. The registered office is recommended for all stationery and company's website, especially if there is more than one address.

It may be a legal requirement to show a registered office address on company stationery, but my reading of the Companies House website is that it only applies to business letters and order forms, not to invoices.

In any event, my view is that the main address on any document should be the trading address - the address that you actually want people to use when they reply. If the registered office is different, that can be disclosed if necessary in small print. For most businesses with a registered office at an accommodation address the last thing that they want is for all of their correspondence to be sent there - they want it to the trading address.

    Both!

By law, you have to have the registered office.

For communication, you will want your trading address.
