Hi. I am in the process of starting a UK business as a computer repair technician as a sole trader from home.

My question is in regard to insurance. All I want is something that will cover me should I damage a computer while it's in my possession at home. I do not need insurance for home visits or anything off my property.

I don't know where to start Any help appreciated.

    Hi @1974darrenh ,

How small is "very small"? It will cost a few hundred pounds per year as a minimum.

Insures will not include cover if you cause damage whilst you are carrying out the repair - this is a "business risk". Cover will be physical damage to the equipment such as fire, theft, water damage etc. You may be able to include Accidental damage cover (eg. dropping it).

Also, make sure you tell your Home Insurer what you are doing otherwise you may find you its invalid!
