Income Protection, Critical Illness & Life Insurance Leads - generate/buyl them ?

Hi, I'm looking at setting up as an insurance broker and was wondering what people's thoughts were on leads.

I was initially thinking of buying lots of leads to get me started and and generate the income to continue. However, the costs can be huge.

So with that in mind, I was wondering how easy/hard it would be as well as the cost to create a site(s) in addition to the main business one that would generate leads.

Has anyone any experience of setting up a lead generating site ?

Please, don't PM me, I'm at the early stages of all this so not looking to put work anyone's way just yet and would rather have an open discussion for all to see and participate.

Well, I've managed to get some info from another company that was paying £16 per lead from one company but only got a 10% conversion rate, but paying £22 per lead from another company and getting a 20% conversion rate.

Obviously £22 @ 22% conversion rate is better as it works out cheaper per conversion and I'd have to contact half as many people to make the same amount of sales.

Can anyone else provide and stats/info on this sort of thing ?

Hi,

I am too am in the business, currently working for a large network. I have had some experience in buying leads etc and you are right the cost can be huge and the rewards are not guaranteed.

My best peice of advice when looking at purchasing leads is make sure you can "vet" them before you purchase.

I do recommend a couple of sites though:

Finance Leads Online
PAA Leads

Let me know how you get on if you purchase some as i would be interested to know how you get on with them. As I say, I have had success with both of these in the past?

Hope this helps.

conversion rate can obviously differ depending on the advisers experience/sales skills/hunger etc.

if you are starting out dont be tempted to take all fees upfront as clawbacks can be painful for cashflow. for the bigger cases e.g. premiums of £80 and over get it on the drip and after a period of time youll have some nice passive income

Hi,

I've been doing life insurance (generating life leads) for over a year & I totally agree with John that the conversion rate can differ depending on the advisors's selling skills/rapport building ability, etc. I am currently working with 4 different clients & one of them has been getting close to 25% conversions on my leads on an average & they pay me £40 per lead. The client that i've been working with for over a year now (almost) gets on an average 40% - 50% conversions & ironically they pay me the lowest amount per lead. I hope it didn't sound too boastful but the fact is that their sales person is one of the best sales guys i've ever dealt with in my entire career. So as far as the conversions are concerned it's quite subjective & we can't really generalize the quality of leads based on a particular batch of leads or the results obtained by one particular co.

Kind Regards
Sumit
