I have been looking at seo for our website the prices seem alot around here for what appears not to be much time.
I was told inbound links is very important. Can anyone tell me if these are important and how I can generate some quality ones. I don't mind spending time on this but I don't want to pay out to much.

Thanks

And the above post is exactly why seo has such a bad reputation. All those techniques are constantly promoted by the Indian companies despite the fact that this sort of approach no longer works.

One assumes you mean post #3...;)

OP, if you want good rankings don't skimp on paying someone to build good links. Cheap links are rarely worth anything.

all people are ding same thing ..and webmaster from UK are also following given seo techniques and getting ranked well
The only people still doing this are the SEO scammers. The techniques don't work so anyone paying for this type of service is just wasting their money.

Why doesn't it still work? It seems to work for me just fine. Yes, i use other methods but article submission, blog comments etc...can be used as part of a successful SEO campaign.

It all works.

It's a case of certain people like to do things their own way and consider other peoples ways to be pointless because that's not the way they like doing it.

Having a good bit of experience now i know that they all work but i know where i like to invest my limited time and it is not on blog comments or articles or directory submisions, for the time invested the return is small. But they do work.

Agreed.

As long as you don't spam or blast the hell out of your site directly then they wont do you any harm and 99/100 they will provide some benefit. If you do it all yourself then yes, they take time, which would be better spent elsewhere.

Ok, let me rephrase my statement.

Mass blog commenting, submission to spammy directories, sending the same article to loads of article sites and so on doesn't work. The links will at best be ignored and at worst result in a penalty.

On the other hand, intelligent link building does work. One good quality link from a respected site will have far more influence than a thousand inbound links from all the usually trashy sources.

Google spends a lot of effort weeding out the detritus. Which is why people keep having to link build. If you concentrate on quality rather than quantity then link building become so much easier and far less labour intensive.

Mass blog commenting directly to your money site: couldn't agree more. Very foolish thing to do. However, mass blogging linked to a web 2.0, which is in turn linked to your site can pass some good link juice.

Same article to numerous directories: again, couldn't agree more. Human re-written or spun articles are obviously the way to go about things.

When using ScrapeBox or Xrumer so long as you don't blast your site directly you'll be fine. I find blasting web 2.0's always has a positive effect on ranking.

Can I suggest an altering of perception.

Do you want link building or do you want to make more money?

Link building promises nothing. A good SEM company however will work to increase the amount of business your website generates.

So instead of paying for link building (which may not bring in a single new customer) why not pay to improve conversions, increase your SE exposure, build brand awareness, target new customers and so on.

It's (generally) easier to double your conversions than it is to double your visitors.

Inbound links are the most important thing in SEO and there are so many tips for getting them. Just check out "link building tips" on Google

    Enjoy!!:D

    This is totally incorrect.

The most important thing first-off is keyword analysis. Without the right keywords you have no-chance.

Then there there is the issue of on-page. Again, without getting your on-page SEO strategy in place and correct, anything else is pointless.

Link building is the last thing you should be doing....not the only thing, and not the first thing.

Inbound links are quite important and count a lot for your website link popularity. You need to fetch the backlinks for your website’s important pages and for those you want to rank high in search engines. There are various ways to fetch backlinks for your website like social bookmarking, directory submission, article submission, social media participation, forum participation, blog commenting etc. Besides these guest blogging and contextual link building have come as effective techniques to fetch backlinks after panda update.

Why do you continually plague this forum by resurrecting old and dead threads?
