Hi all

Going to import some items from china. its value is approx 500£ so not a huge order.

I have opted for the C&F option which means i have to deal with the goods when they arrive in the UK.

The items will be arriving in felixstowe and i was wondering how this works? i have never imported before at this kind of level.

How can i get these items delivered to my door from felixstowe?

Hi Preciousbags,

The process is quite straight forward.

But first, i strongly suggest you change the terms of your shipment
to FOB, which is Free On Board, from the port of loading in China.

The reason i suggest you do this is under terms C&F, the shipper will not pay any cost, and these will all be added to your bill in the UK and you will end up paying much more than necessary.

Based on shipping the weight you mention under terms FOB china would be as follows :

Seafreight : USD 45 - USD 50

Port Infrastructure Charge : GBP 1.50
Security Fee : GBP 3.50
Presentation : GBP 16.50

LCL Terminal Handling Charge : GBP 52.00

Delivery : Dependant on where goods are for delivery to

Customs Entry : GBP 37.00
DTI Fee : GBP 4.10
Deferment Fee : GBP 20.00
Import Service Fee : GBP 20.00

If you can confirm the total weight and cubic measurement of your
shipment, can confirm exact costs for you.

You will also have customs Duty & VAT to pay,.

In terms of Documents, you will need as follows :

1) Original Bill of Lading
2) Invoice
3) Packing List

You will also need to apply for an EORI number if you do not have one.

If you can provide following details, can put together a complete quote :

1) Port of Loading in China
2) Total Weight of your shipment
3) Total cubic measurement of your shipment
4) Where you would like goods delivered to

Hi Preciousbags,

If the goods value is just approx 500£, you can try DHL, UPS if the wight is not very heavy, DHL/UPS/FEDEX are door-to-door service, then you can ask your supplier to quote EX.W.

I can caculate the cost by DHL/UPS/Fedex for you if you have the weight, volume of the goods.
