Hi, I am appearing on Dragons Den this coming Monday (26th). As a business owner of 20+ years, I found the Den process extremely hard, interesting but actually quite rewarding.....in different ways to what one would imagine.

If there is sufficient interest, I would be happy to share my experiences with forum members.....it makes for an interesting story and may also be of help to any entrepreneurs out that are considering applying for the Den.

......there is sufficient interest, I am considering either recording a podcast or alternatively hosting a web chat. The Dragons Den experience is interesting on a whole host of levels. The reasons why people go into the den (not only for money), how you get chosen, what really happens on the day....and most importantly, the edit.

As for recognising me, look out for a giant rodent.....there won't be many!!!!

I will be introduced as Julian.

Fantastic! Shall watch out and look forward to hearing your views after the show.

PS. if you have carried on with your idea away from the den and have an active website, make sure you have adequately invested in good enough hosting to ensure your website stays up! Biggest downfall of businesses that go on the den in my opinion - So much exposure is lost!

How many re-takes did you have to do.?

It is effectively recorded 'live' with stops for drink, loo breaks etc. The edit though is TOTALLY down to the BBC. I was in there for over an hour.....and it was constant interrogation.....

Probably best that I answer all questions en masse after the show has been out.....as already mentioned, if there is enough interest, I may do a webchat. It is a real experience......

BBC2 Monday 26.09.11 21.00 BST

A bride and her business partner climb the stairs to the Den seeking long-term commitment from a Dragon. Will their novel idea, capitalising on the wedding market, be enough to forge a union?

Elsewhere, a Bury-based businesswoman demonstrates her beauty product with the help of her daughter; a Hertfordshire entrepreneur hopes his million-pound turnover will impress the Dragons; and a first-time inventor brings a bit of Shakespeare into the Den whilst pitching his balcony accessory.

I remember that group (Hamfatter). I looked them up on the web and all I could see were negative comments about them from indy music fans. Certainly Peter Jones instincts let him down on that occasion.

I guess even successful entrepreneurs don't always get it right - Tycoon, for example, which must surely be his most embarrassing business episode since coming to the wider public's attention.

I will watch but actually i am getting abit sick of the same people being on tv each week and getting free publicity ie The dragons.

There are lots of business people who dont get a chance to go on the programme and make investments.

They also make out they are giving away alot of the money when really they arent giving away much at all considering what they earn.

Hope you enjoyed it anyway.

Never hear about hamfatter but what does it matter if you dont always get it right when you have millions.

Peter jones has had alot of publicity from being on Dragons Den.

I'm not personally a big fan of Peter, for reasons I won't go into here lest it leads to legal issues - suffice to say I have had some dealings with one of his 'investments' that is a bit of a farce. I definitely think he loves himself, and that he isn't as good at spotting business talent as he thinks.

Just bear in mind that I've read some conflicting reports about DD; alleging that some of the deals don't get honoured, "investments" are loans , also both parties have a cooling off period so if you do come to an agreement maybe don't start counting your chickens yet...

On the positive, you will get massive exposure, but as with the X factorisation of 'reality' tv nowdays just hope that your one hour meeting doesn't get editied into a one minute comedy peice at your expense.

One thing that suprises me is that entrepreneurs don't seem to negotiate much on how much time per month and how regular their meetings with their Dragon's will be, something just as important than equity share imo.

I would definitely stand my ground with them if they they start getting too hostile, a couple of them in particular I think are a lot luckier than they are clever.

One of my clients' client was featured on DD, and while he was savaged (by Duncan Bannatyne (unsurprisingly) and Peter Jones (a little more surprisingly!) I think the experience did his company good and he features the clip on his website. What's done is done, but I hope that whatever the outcome on the day, it has a positive effect on your business. Tell us more!
