Basically, yes, albiet in theory should be more easily scaleableAs has been said many times before: all cloud means is someone else’s computer.
Indeed. But if someone cuts the bit of string connecting you to them all the scaling in the world isn’t going to help.Basically, yes, albiet in theory should be more easily scaleable
Plus, man-in-the-middle attacks, denial of service attacks, phishing attacks - all these nothing to do with the cloud and these plus more can affect on site infrastructure. You can never totally control the server.
Even if you had a box in your house, you are still at the mercy of your internet provider and their resources!
If the server is on the box in your house then you can control it and who access it.You can never totally control the server.

You the server with local access. And if your internet connection goes down?
Not sure that would apply in this case.A capable architect builds systems that work across providers. Not by fearing downtime, but by learning to live with it.
lolSo, even Amazon can be hit!
Many big and small companies use it and their business will probably have been affected.
Ultimately, who can you trust, if anyone?
Except; using the same infra as most businesses will mean, when people try to take AWS offline to affect the larger brands, you will be affected as a side-result.I guess one advantage with a larger host such as AWS is that so many people are affected it will mean you don't have to try to speak to someone and it will usually be quickly resolved.
Maybe so but most UK small businesses don’t need to use AWS or any other cloudy hosts. There is very little benefit in doing so.I guess one advantage with a larger host such as AWS is that so many people are affected it will mean you don't have to try to speak to someone and it will usually be quickly resolved.
you probably have less control than you think. you do not know how good your srcurit is. could easily misconfigure the server and leave access wide open for attacks. If the server is on the box in your house then you can control it and who access it.
