Hi,
Received an ICO data protection letter requesting yearly payment or face a £4k fine.

Thought it was a scam but looking into the site looks legitimate.

Is this a required payment for ltd company. Only data we keep is b2b for invoicing purposes

I answered the questions and it said I don’t need to pay.

My answers were No, Yes, No

If you're only processing personal data for your core business purposes - invoicing and managing customer accounts, for example - then those circumstances in and of themselves don't require you to pay a fee (even if you're processing them electronically).

No need to call anyone, all the iformation is online. Are we living is pre 1990s or something?

Thanks for the advice above. I do collect information for accounts and invoicing which is exempt so no fee needed.

I'm guessing government has reduced funding so they need to pull this. Perhaps they used to get funding from EU before, it's timed with brexit.
