Good god i need a rant.

Why is my wireless so unpredictable??? A member here kindly gave me a new wireless card, and when i inserted it, it upped my transfer rate and signal strength to almost full, and it stayed that way. Finally i had solved my long standing problem!

Then, last week, after weeks of great signal - its back down to 1.0 mbps and struggling for days now to get any kind of usable signal.

WHY! Nothing, and i mean nothing, in the surroundings has changed! The router hasnt moved, my laptop hasnt moved, i havent moved, nothing between me and the router has changed, nothing, yet i've lost my great signal.

If it was feasible for me to run a cable i would but it isnt. After spending out on a new router as well. God i hate wireless.

Rant over.

With you on that one Mark, we have thrown a small fortune at wireless and gave up in the end, as you have to know when to cut your loses. So now we just plug a cable in, but even this has been problematic as the rabbits have chewed through two of the cables:eek:

We are not destined to own a laptop;)

Wireless is toy/home technology really (going to get flamed for that!).

For business don't mess with something that might work on a good day, use a wired connection: fast, secure, and reliable. If you cannot run LAN cable then use networking over the mains. Plug in, use, never think about it again!

I have to rightly flame you! :D Wi-Fi works fine, its the implementation which normally causes problems.

I can't disagree with your second point tho, work is work and stability rules the roost. So if needs be, hard wire the lot.

@ Mark - Given the amount of problems you have, it would require a visit to the premises to fix, as something must be interfering. Although, it might not be under your direct control.
