How to value a website...

A

Advink - Mark

In the last 18 months or so I have learnt a LOT about the value of my money, and ideall i like to keep as much as possible!!

This in mind... What do you think the website is actually worth?

How do you put a value on your website? and what would it cost if I asked you (web guys) to build that right now?

Some details:

It run through host gator and then the site draws the information through into the site. Technically its around 30 pages.

So how much would it cost me to build this site again?

That's the value I'd put on your website.

If you had asked the question: how valuable is the website to your business then the answer could be £1m.

If you had asked how much a site is worth then the answer is around 3x the turnover generated through the website.

Note: making a site mockup in PS/Illustrator is not designing a site. You haven't considered navigation paths, content, information flow, calls to action, conversion criteria, SEO, usability, accessibility, typography, readibility, cross browser compatibility and a gazillion other things necessary to the creation of an effectrive website.

I have good experience in valuation and selling websites. I have sold many websites so hare are things you should consider:

1. Yearly revenue
2. Yearly profit
3. Traffic
4. Expenses
5. Unique/non unique design and idea
6. How much time and employees needed to run the site.

The best place so sell small websites is Flippa.com and average sales price there is 6-20 month revenue but it could depend on all the factors I mentioned previously.

This forum according to this report: mcjonline.com/www/ukbusinessforums.co.uk is worth over million but will someone be willing to pay such amount? I guess not.

There are many other factors you should consider but all comes down to ho much someone is willing to pay for your website. Finding the right buyer is the hardest part.
