hello forum'ers,

after a few financially difficult years i have decided that i want to import some mdf/wood furniture from turkey and would like to know what it is that i need to do paperwork wise in order for the goods to be cleared through customs.

i will set up a ltd company, i know that much.. but what else?

i would very much appreciate broken down, simplistic - step by step guide to what to do before i can legally start importing goods.

any help is hugely appreciated, all the best to you guys.

OK, first you are going to need an EORI number, these can be issued within a day no problem and can be assigned to VAT and non VAT registered companies.

Here is government info on EORI numbers

To get through customs at this end your clearing agent will need, alongside your EORI number a commercial invoice, a commodity code and the origin of manufacture, so they can correctly VAT and duty charge the items,

Unfortunately I dont have 30 posts so cant post useful links.

Hi denbo,

I use to import a lot of TV/AV furniture from Turkey.

At lot depends on the specs of the products and, if solid wood, is it sustainable and if there are treatments.
