Hi! Hope you're well.

Is it possible to transfer the telephone number I have at the local insutrial estate to my home? I would also like to keep my home number.

How would this get done? Would I need another seperate landline? I wouldn't mind if it had to get directed to a mobile etc? #

Are there any companies etc offering this services.

Thanks in advance

If you're the same area code then BT/Openreach should be able to sort it.

AFAIK, the virtual landline companies get allocated a pool of 'local' numbers, which usually bear no resemblance to a real local number other than the area code. The chances of you being able to surrender your number by ending your contract at the yard and then picking it up again via a virtual landline provider I should think are slim.

Aside from anything else, it's better to have a more robust 'ownership' of a landline number that has commercial value to you. A single phone line from BT, no internet costs me under £20 a month for unlimited calls at my yard. You have to call up direct for this, as every provider assumes you need internet.

You could port the number to a VOIP provider, then redirect calls to your mobile.

You could try Voipfone, they are very helpful and the CEO is a member here.

Don't go for an additional landline, BT will be ceasing all PSTN landlines in 2025, so you would have to have a VOIP solution then anyway.

Might cost £10-20, but then your number goes where you want and costs a couple of quid a month. You can divert the calls, have a desk phone (like normal) or even, possible, an app to manage calls.

Thanks everybody for getting back to me.

Porting to a VOIP seems like the best option. Fortunately this won't happen for a few good months to a year but always good to plan ahead.

Do any of you know if multiple mobiles can be used for the same number? For example that the calls are sent to multiple users and it's up to them who picks up first.

Cheers

Group ring or everyone having an app to take the call is achievable!

This is not a problem and it's something I frequently have to do.
In 2025 your landline will be turned off and you will have to move to an Internet based voice service anyway.

Any telecoms company will be able to request to port the number for you. You can have it made virtual and then put a divert on it to your mobile for instance, or you can have it ring through to an app or a voip phone on the desk.
You will also save money as it will work out cheaper than rental on a physical landline

That's totally achievable. A virtual number operator will be able to offer you hunt groups, queues, menu systems, voicemail etc.
