Hello
We have been in the cleaning business for over a year and have been struggling to find new clients. We are a commercial cleaning company.
We have tried Google Ads which did not work, also paid for SEO which did not work. We have only managed to get some jobs through word of mouth apart from that it has been a struggle.
Any suggestions please

Both Google ads and SEO do work. You just paid the wrong people.

Most businesses already have a cleaning contract. They are only likely to change if the cleaning standards fall or become too expensive.

Have you tried direct marketing? Writing to local business with details of your services might get some leads.

Having previously negotiated cleaning contracts running into the hundreds of thousands my advice is you need to contact companies directly and get your foot in the door to show what you have to offer. Commercial operators are always reviewing their contracts and you want your details sitting on their desk.

One word of warning though make sure you have all your ducks in a row, insurance, H&S, costs etc otherwise your wasting your time.

I’ve just done a Google search for your company. Can’t work out which of the many TK services you are.

A mate of mine found his cleaner via nextdoor. The cleaners advertised their services and his wife saw the promotion, told her husband and he made the call. What impressed him was the way they presented their business: uniforms, proper brochure and a professional presentation.

    I second next oor.

A lot of people in my area have cleaners and all get them through word of mouth and nextdoor.

Use nextdoor to get your first few clients and kickstart word of mouth.

The service you provide though will make the biggest difference. If your clients don't think it's worth talking about, they won't.

Hi @TKs Cleaning, welcome to UKBF! What specifically did you try with Google ads? Were you focusing on local targeting in a specific radius? Did you use keywords that were relevant to your business?

Google ads is generally very good for most businesses so I think having another go at it would be good. You could branch out to Facebook advertising too, perhaps creating a dedicated landing page for each campaign to see which one works better?

I think offering a limited-time offer to attract new clients would work with your advertising for example a free deep-clean session for new customers after X amount of hours booked etc. Perhaps you could consider a referral program?

Offering discounts for referrals? SEO is a little more complicated, but it sounds like you either need help in that area or need to hire someone else.

My opinion might be less popular than the above - but I think telephone cold calling for this kind of business would be beneficial. Targeting big companies isn't going to work, but small businesses, upto say 20 employees, might be worth thinking about.
