Hi

just wondering on website is it good to have more than one blog. So is it good to have a link to Blogger with text about one subject, then a link to Tumblr with text about another subject and then Wordpress again talking about something else?

Thanks for your help

so would google dislike me if I have Tumblr and Blogger and Wordpress links on my site, even if they have completely different content on each?
Pointless and confusing for your visitors.

Install wordpress ON your site and do all your blogging in one place.

As above 1 blog per niche/micro niche or your visitors will get bamboozled.

I have several site that cover many niches AND over time, I have found that some of the more generic niches can move to their own site as demand dictates.

If you do go down the route of covering many topic niches then make good use of the navigation and tag system (I use these like folders so the reader knows what is in what tag).

But, I would not go down that route.

One of the most important points to remember about blogging is that quality and value always prevail over everything else.

If you are managing a range of different blogs, do they each offer value to their readers? Is the content on them consistently of a great quality?

We generally recommend that an organisation should have one blog and develop that extensively. If they want to then develop another blog (and another and so on) at a later date, that's fine - but the quality and value aspects need to always be remembered.

Oh thank you so much everyone,

this is so useful. I just got a bit confused when everyone talks about how important blogs are so I thought if they are soooooooooo important do I have a blogger and a tumblr etc.

I really appreciate everyone responding, you are so very kind - I thank you

...everyone talks about how important blogs are...
Who is everyone?

Blog can be important but 99% of the time they aren't. Blog if you have something useful to say, the skills to do the writing and the enthusiasm to keep doing it. If you don't then it's not worth the effort.

Unless you've got radically different departments you want blogging separately, or staff members who will have their own blogs, there's not much business case for multiple blogs (aside from the possible backlink benefits - depending on how their were domained/installed).

Personally, I'd go 1 blog until such time as you get massive, then consider segmenting based on product/audience/staff. Perhaps 100mil per year or better might be a good revenue goal before such.
