How long do Google Adwords adverts remain ‘pending review’?

I got a nice letter from Google last week offering me £75 worth of Adwords – I set up my account and five days later my ads are still ‘pending review’ – does anyone know how long it takes to get these things approved?

It could be a few things.

Does the domain you are putting in your ad redirect to another url?

Do you have broken links on the website your ad is going to ?

Have you set your bid high enough?

Have you correctly picked the network your ads are going to appear?

Have you set negative words correctly?

Those are only a few i can think of, im sure someone else will have a few.

Depends on the market. The more "sensitive" the market, the more likely they are to properly manually review them. (Which means you'll have to wait longer.)

Other times, they just seem to "forget" to review them. In which case, you need to chase them by reporting it.

If it's all your ads, that's quite interesting. It would suggest that it's either the market or there's something up with your account/site.

Try creating another ad group and see if its ads get approved. If they do, then the old ones may have just slipped through the net. If they're not approved within a couple of days, then there's probably something going on.

Hope this helps,

Steve

No

No

Have you set your bid high enough?

I would have thought this irrelevant as the thing isn’t approved yet

Have you correctly picked the network your ads are going to appear?

I selected everything

Have you set negative words correctly?

Again, the advert is not approved yet, once that’s done I can look at tweaking the parameters can’t I?

Thanks. The market is records management - which I wouldn't have thought is particularlysensitive.

What's normal when waiting for these things to be approved?

I tend to find that the ads (text ads) actually go 'live' (appear in results) within 10 mins of activating them yet it'll often still say "Pending Review" for some hours afterwards.

The only time I waited something like 5 days was because I'd used a trademarked term in my ads and Google hadn't bothered to inform me that was the issue.
