How Important Is Google Checkout?

I'm wondering what you all think about Google Checkout? I'd quite like to add it to my store but it throws up a couple of problems for me..

I've got a fairly standard checkout system, from the cart to log in/enter details, then shipping/payment. If I enable Google Checkout it appears as an option on the cart page, selecting this would by pass the rest of my checkout ( I know it's supposed to! )

The trouble with this is that discount vouchers etc are entered in the payments area, so Google by-passes this as well..

It'll be a fair amount of work to get the voucher area showing up earlier, a re-write of the checkout process almost.

My question ( finally.. ) is would it be worth it? How many here think that having Google Checkout is a must? or at least very desireable?

I don't think it's a must or at all desirable. I used it once, it'll take a lot to get me to use it again.

I think there might be a benefit in using it as an extra payment option if you use Adwords to any great degree, cos your advert leaps off the page with the Google Checkout logo under your ad...................

I've just integrated it into our eCommerce system and TBH it's only there as some people will most likely want to use it.

As with PayPal, it's always good to offer a choice of payment methods but I wouldn't say it would be a show stopper if you didn't have it unless as Ray says, you are running Adwords campaigns...

I've signed up, but I can't find any option to have recurring billing or "subscriptions" like PayPal offers.

I might consider using adwords at some point, I'll probably integrate Google checkout eventually but it doesn't sound like it would be sorely missed in the mean time.

Right now it's just paypal IPN, I'm in the process of getting an IMA set up and looking at protx or secpay.

Would be useful but needs to be more easily integrated.
