How does an independent station do SEO?

I have a problem, the company needs me to take over the SEO of the website. But before that, I have never done any related work, and this website is messy both in appearance and content. How should I carry out the SEO of the website? I hope someone can help me, here is the site I need to manage

Tell your boss you need money for training. SEO is not something you can just do, you need to know what you are doing and how to test if your changes work and add value.

I think that's the same, but I think every boss wants to spend less money to let employees do more work, even if it is beyond the ability of employees.

Every foolish, myopic boss, you mean.

A boss with any commercial sense whatsoever will invest either in training or bringing in suitably qualified people.

if he wants you to do SEO you need to learn how to do SEO. Which means proper training or a year of you time doing your own research. Tell him you can either do SEO or your job. You can’t do both.

You have been roundly stitched up by your boss.

They have asked you to take on something for which you are unqualified.

I would proceed thus.

1. Ask for some training. A lot of training. If they give you enough training you could become good at this and really make a difference.

2. If they won't give you training, spend a LOT of time doing research. Their time, of course. Hours. Days. It will be much harder than option one, but you might get it and really make a difference.

3. If they are determined that you just wing it, you are being stitched up. Start searching for a rational employer with whom you might succeed.

This is classic poor management. Give someone a job. Don't train them. Yell at them when it all goes tits up. It probably happened to them - someone made them a manager and gave them no training.

@jinjiecai - is your site gemwon.com?

If so then forget SEO. You can't do SEO on a react built site. Tell you boss he has paid for a junk website.

I promise you that out there in the big world there are some competent bosses.

Those with this aim fall into a different category.

I want my team to succeed, because if they succeed my business succeeds. That means I have to invest a little more sometimes.

If you are completely new in SEO then you have to learn from basic like what is heading tags and what is importance, how to build high quality backlinks, how to improve branding etc.. And if you know basics then we will suggest you to use some reputed free tools for a while and see what they are suggesting to boost your site ranking. I will recommend to go with SEMRush (Free account). You can learn many things from there.

That is not entirely true. You can use server-side rendering with React, which sorts out most things.
Yes you can. But it's not easy and will probably be way beyond the skills of @jinjiecai. And even if they do learn how to do server side rendering it's never as good as front end SEO work.

I think the big problem with people that don't understand SEO, is getting their head around the fact that nobody can offer guaranteed results within a given time frame. Because of this there are plenty of cowboys willing to take your money each month and do very little.

A good SEO consultant will be transparent and show you what they do each month and give reports of movements, hopefully in the desired direction.

Sounds to me you need to lay out a plan for on site and off site work needed and schedule it to fit within their monthly budget.

Whilst the advice above is sound, it’s premature. Don’t set yourself up for a fall.

The very first thing you need to do is establish the boss’s objectives for getting the site optimised. Example…

Boss: “I want you to SEO our website”.
    You: “Why?”
Boss: ”To improve our rankings on Google.”
    You: “Why?”
Boss: “So we get more visitors.”
    You: “Why?”
Boss: “So we get more sales.”

Now if, as @fisicx asks, your site is gemwon.com, there’s no point at all in ‘doing SEO’ because the thing’s a complete dog’s breakfast, but let’s leave that aside.

For any site, bear in mind that:
    • SEO won’t necessarily improve rankings.
    • Better rankings won’t automatically increase visitors.
    • More visitors aren’t guaranteed to boost sales.
If the aim is to get more sales, consider whether that could be better achieved by (for example)..
    • Redeveloping the existing site or
    • A social media campaign or
    • A PPC campaign or
    • A combination of any of these.
In short, you need to establish your boss’s objectives and manage his expectations. Don’t persuade him to invest time and money in your training if it’s not going to produce the results he’s expecting.
