How do job boards make money?

Hi there,

I have been looking at a few job boards and noticed that a lot of them list a job and then redirect you to another job board listing site which then sometimes links to yet another website. Why is this? Is there some kind of affiliate commission being earned here? If so, does anyone know of any platforms that offer this or specialise in recruitment affiliates?>

If anyone has any thought on this, that would be great, thanks!

A customer looking for an upholster for their high end furniture company spent a lot of money looking for the right person
I think there is a lot of money still floating around in that sector

Most of them won't make any money. They are seen as an easy way to earn a few pounds via affiliates (and possibly adverts) but aren't. As you say, they are just junk.

Corporates. Before I opened my video production agency, I was EMEA head of talent acquisition for a multi-billion dollar software firm.

We'd get a ton of calls from job boards and frankly, we'd try out a load. My budget was about $2 million USD p.a. (which is really small for a big tech firm) but at the end of the year, if we had a bit left over, we'd try some job boards. Every now and again we'd hit gold so it was worth it for us.

E.g. I worked at a company with a 10,000 dimensional hyperblock so we needed a ton of advanced mathematicians. We tried out half a dozen maths job boards before we found a couple that delivered.

A job board subscription for a decent one could be $50k p.a. or $2k - $5k for a test so there's lots of money there.
