How do I send a professional text message?

Does anyone know how I can send a professional text message to my clients mobiles? I need to send a text to let them know when i have delivered leads. At the moment I do it from my personal phone but would like them to recieve a message from 'Company Name'.

Thought I may be able to do this on the web but can't find anything. please help!
 
Theres no such thing as a 'professional text message' I dont think. The closest you could get to that is to hire a 5 digit text number which costs quite a bit per month. Never heard of the company name thing but I dont know, sounds interesting if it does exist.

I got a Sansung E-900, it comes with software for the puter which connects via bluetooth as soon as I walk in the office (dining room ;)). Find it very convenient to type text messgaes, to the men and to clients from the puter. Far more profesional, not fiddly and none of that rubbish 'txt spk'.

Theres loads of solutions out there, we used to have a number which we used to send 10,000 texts out and it just appaeared with our name, no number and the text couldnt be replied to.

Try google....I cant remember which company we used. It isnt that expensive either.

I'd also be interested in a short number or named service. Although my customer base is still relatively small, and the SMS we would be sending wouldn't reach over 1000 a month, it would be a good asset!

Our solution is aimed at Small/Medium businesses. You can just top up your number of text credits on your account at any time, with the minimum quantity being around 250 texts:)

I've also fixed the signup form in Firefox.

I wouldn't be so eager to give up the "personal touch" for a professional one now that your clients have gotten used to it.

I feel like I need the straight up bringing up into the 21st century when it comes to "text messaging" people tell me they will do that all time and i have such an old school phone that i dont get them or they just bounce out

If anyone knows the right phone company to try as far cell phones are concerned that has a good text messaging plan as my company is picking up my phone bill

I don't send many texts but also cannot do it successfully from a phone, I seem to have too many thumbs, though I can type fast enough on a 'proper' keyboard.

I now use www.voipcheap.com from my PC. 5 eurocents (about 3.5p) per text. The on-line interface allows you to send to a group of numbers. If you do sign up with them choose your username carefully, the texts you send will end with "from <username>".

This all sounds thoroughly disagreeable and to be avoided at all costs. I really really really hate companies which think it's OK to text me 'special offers' or deals, etc. as they've got my mobile number from somewhere, and it is even worse if you can't text back or reply to it.

Hi, quite an easy thing to do really. You can use services from the likes of world-text.com by where you can use your existing email system to send messages which get converted into text messages, and if wanted be able to receive replies by email. You can also have your own 'source address' i.e. your message will arrive as from 'YourCompany', however the recipient won't be able to reply to that.

An easy way to send text messages to clients is through email SMS. This is where you simply type the persons number followed by an email address, this is then sent through a gateway to the intended phone number.
Esendex offer this service; the interface is really clear and the customer service is great.

god knows why the user decided this thread needed to be bumped into 2011. funny to see the websites that are no longer registered. guess this business wasn't such a good one to go into

There are companies out there that will send bulk text messages on your behalf - apparently this is much more effective spend because a much higher % of people open texts than emails or spam mail.

I can give you the name of a reputable company up here in GLasgow who can do this for around 10p a text.

i think texting is a good idea but it needs to sound automated and quick to the point rather then a personal text. e.g. say you send an item out for delivery a quick text saying "dear mrs rosebud. you're parcel has been dispatched and will be with you on Wednesday. Thank you for your order" is good as it's a little extra and as pointed out more likely to be read and remembered. if it's personal and is like "hi mrs rosebud this is john. I've got your parcel ready for you and i've sent it with the courier today."... actually thats sounds good too now i think about it if you're going for a "personal service". hmm i like this idea now more and more as i write this post

Thought I'd revive this old post to chip in: if you're worried about professionalism, there's a heap of guides around to show you best practices and help you write an effective message. If you look through the Textlocal website (or any other provider) you should find some help there.

I don't think text is a modern way of communicating in business I think its very unprofessional to communicate with your customers by text .

Texting has been around for 20 years its old tech really
