How do I get work on a chat line please

I know this sounds a bit weird, but is a serious question. My husband cleaned out the bank account after beating me up and trashing the house early in 2008 and left for "somewhere in or around Redruth in England" I am finding it incredibly hard to get regular work here in France and need to survive and pay bills. I am well educated, and had a long and successful career in sales and marketing in the UK and America and am now expected to live on thin air as unless you have French diplomas for work it is virtually impossible to get anything regular. The house/sitting, changeovers or running gites market has been done to death and I came to France to sell property to international clients and did this for 7 years but again with the world crisis the clients are not able to buy now and as you are paid commission only it is impossible to pay the social charges here and so I am looking at other options.

Does anyone know how you go about getting a telephone sex chat line up and running? I understand it can be well paid and ofcourse you never meet any dodgy characters and I think it would be a way to make money but have no idea how you get started. I have a sexy voice and am not easily shocked but that is not enough is it? Any sensible replies or help would be most appreciated. Yes, it is for real and not a wind up in case you are wondering.

I fail to see a good reason to not give it a go. I don't have the risk of being beaten up or killed, am completely anonymous and all I have to do is listen or talk to a person who is willing to pay for the privilege of talking or listening to a total stranger. Surely this is what you are all doing on this forum isn't it?

I view it as a service like anything else and why not put money in my pocket instead of someone else's. So if I can make money from a sex chatline why not? I am not a prostitute I hasten to add and there is no sex involved what so ever but with many English speakers in France I feel there is obviously a need for this service so if anyone has any sensible ideas to help I would be interested. I am registered with ANPE, the national job centre and all of the other job agencies in the region who appear to be a waste of time and put all non French peoples papers in the bin as we do not have the diplomas they want to ever try and find work for you. So short of robbing a bank ( that is a joke, before anyone replies to it!) I am a bit stuck for money making ideas and feel I have run out options. Like I say any sensible help is most welcome. Thank you in advance.

Surely there must be tens of thousands of ladies wanting to do this sort of work with the lure of 'easy money' Watch out for scammers, I am sure there will be unscrupulous people offering this kind of work and they will want an 'admin fee' for joining and will promise to get you work. Dont part with any money up front, if they ask for it, then it is almost certainly a scam.

Thank you for the help. I will not pay for anything up front, that is good advice! I will look at adult work as I had no idea who to contact so thank you for that and someone else suggested adult textlines so if you know anything about those I would be interested. I am not a prostitute just a woman who needs to survive and whilst it may not be what your granny would like you to do, beggars cannot always be choosers can they? Anymore in for would be appreciated.

HI,
I have just had this private message and thought I would put it on the site for others to see in case anyone had a good idea of how I can keep a roof over my head? Maybe my idea is not highly salubrious however having tried everything I can think of I am now prepared to consider this as my work for now as I have to and see no other choice. If however anyone has a better idea please let me know.

" Hi,I thought to say that surely there must be a better idea than your chat line idea? What experience and qualifications do you have?"

I came to france to sell property to international clients and did so for 7 years but the market has dried up all over the world and you have to pay a bout 1000 euros per month for "social charges" if you don't earn anything you still pay so you pay to go hungry and it isn't a way forward. My husband cleaned out the bank account and trashed the house and left for England in March 2008 and since then I have cleaned, nannied worked i na supermarket and given Englsih lessons and still have no regular income and without a school diploma from a French school it is virtually impossible to work here. I have vast experience in sales and marketing in Americ and the UK and thought it is just supplying a service like any other and the money I am sure will be regular and as last winter I had no heating and lost 30 kilos due to going hungry I am not able to come up with another idea and nor I doubt can you. Everyone has to survive and that is all I am trying to do, if you have a better idea that is legal, not dangerous and pays regular money let me know noone else has been able to help including ANPE the national job centre in France and 17 temp agencies in the region. I have my house up for sale which ofcourse isn't selling and I have had no visits since signing mandats in Feb 2008 so am trapped and need to keep bills paid or will be on the street very soon as I cannot keep accepting handouts from friends. So like I say it isn't a job I would actually choose for myself but honestly cannot see another job offer popping up and will be cold and hungry again next month unless I do come up with an idea. This I think is safe as you never meet the person and is anonymous and so what if they are weird do I care? No, not at all if they are paying and I am able to keep food on the table and have the odd radiator on who is using who? I have 6 olevels, 3 A levels, many years experience in sales selling both products and services and have worked for Securicor and Harrods so am used to big business but have also run a sports and leisure shop welling country sports items including guns so as I say I have lots of business experience but it counts for nothing in France. Here you need a diploma to work in a bakery and without one you have no chance. I even went to the training centre for a day to take tests to work in Macdonalds and failed the colouring test, can you believe it? But passed the tests to work in a "grand enterprise" so have been working in a supermarket starting at 5am lumping pallets around until 5pm and that finishes on Monday as it was for the holiday season only. I was very lucky being the only English person ever at the store and the staff of about 400 have been very kind but cannot keep me as I am not needed when everyone has been on their hols. SO, what do I do now?

Brilliant please get the details as I am serious but know there are a lot of crooks out there and just want enough money to keep a roof over my head so am not greedy just hungry and afraid. I know it sounds like weird work but I have no other ideas do you? I am bilingual, intelligent, a good worker and well and truly up the creek without a paddle. But I have to say everyone has been very kind here, my neighbours regularly give me food and help me if they can and the man in the garage took some of my car bill when it went wrong last month so I am very lucky and cannot fault French people it is the system that makes it so hard to get work here. I have had 11 requests for a copy of my birth certificate from CAF and CPAM for health benefits as I am not working and get help if I am ill which I am not. They both have the certificate but here you have a family book which ofcourse being Englsih I don't have so they keep asking for it and I keep saying I cannot give you adocument that does not exist and round and round we go. That is when it gets tiring and frustrating and I am stuck trying to get sensible help from them. They never tell you thingsd like this on the " move to another country" programmes do they? But in fact I know lots of women who have been left here o cope alone by husbands and it is going to get worse I think. The British government won't help us and not can the Fench so we are a forgotton group and have to do our best to survive hence my idea as I am not going to simply kill myself and take the cowards way out. Running away is for the weak and I am strong enough still to fight on. So any hezlp you can give is most welcome..

Pardon my ignorance, but is moving back to the UK not the more realistic option?

I will not claim to know anything specific about it (ahem...) but the sex industry (make no mistake, that is what you will be part of) is not exactly renound for it's reputation. You seem to be worringly naive about this but perhaps this may be because you are desperate.

I am curious to know how you know you have a sexy voice?

My house has been uo for sale since Feb 2008 and to date has had no viewings as the market is dead here like everywhere else. I should know selling property is what I came to France to do. My husband cleared ou the bank account in March 2008 and left huge debts ( in my opinion) which I knew nothing about. I am under French law responsible and am trying to apy them and live on fresh air. I have no family and no way to go anywhere until my hous is sold and wish to stay in France as I have nowhere and noone to run to for help. I have as you read before tried everything I can think of legal and moral to get work here which is virtually impossible and even French people are desperate but usually have families to help them. I will manage somehow I am sure as I am no suitter and know there is an need for a "chat line" for Englsih speakers so have as is usual if you have a business plan (and this is a plan afte all like any other) identified a gap in the marketand wish to fill it before someone esle does. I am selling a sevice like anything else it has to be marketed and I need to get in touch with the right peolpe to help and advise me. It is in my opinion not perhpas what my parents had in mind for me at school but then needs must and it is safea s you are anonymous and remote from the actual person who contacts you. They pay, you listen or talk end of story. look how many emails with smut etc you get each day on your computer it is no different except it is you the buyer if you like who instigated this not a naughty nurse or whatever. Believe me if I had another idea I wouldn ot be asking ofr information but like you I am at a loss and don't fancy going cold and hungry agai nthis winter in minus 2° tempertatures. As for the sexy voice trust me, I have sold to clients on the phone and having a very English accent here in France is a big bonus so why sqhould I not exploit that need and keep a roof over my head? I am amazed how much of a storm this ahs caused I posted a thread on an English site french forum on Sat night and got over 200 people veiwing and many messages with advice and wishing me good luck and after all what is there to lose? As I say I am not a prostitute and don't expect to be one, thank you but this is harmless and could keep me for a while until my Englsih lessons take off or I get a sensible job offer and is better than starving or losing my home.

French people find an English accent sexy? Interesting. How do they feel about Scots?... Nevermind, not important.

Is this sort of market not dead anyway? I understood that the modern way was to "chat" over t'interweb with a weblink?. Or so I have been told....

Very best luck with whatever you try - things are clearly very tough for you...

The only advice I can offer, is that no matter how fantastic your idea/product is, marketing can be a real stumbling block. How would your clients find you? Would you advertise locally? Get a website? Unfortunately any kind of marketing costs money, which is clearly a problem for you at the moment. Catch 22....

Perhaps you could try offering the service through a third party initially until you have built up a regular client base.

Best wishes with whatever you try. DK

You have no need to justify your choice here

People request advice here on all manner of businesses and whether some like the niche or not is irrelevant.

If they can't help you, there is no need for them to reply.

The link I gave you has various sites that detail what you're looking for. I think some hire women as chatline operators.

I think joining an established site will be easier in many respects than trying to set up on your own.

You can be earning money 'now' as an employee.
Being self employed and running a business could take months.

Good luck

Your best bet is to forget trying to manage the debts and the house. Come back to the UK, and sign on for benefits, and social housing.
As for as your debts, you might have to go for an IVA or bankruptcy, depending on your circumstances, but its got to be better than starving!

I have just read the latest replies to my perfectly innocent and maybe niaive question about a chat line and am very confused?

I have no idea why France should be anywhere near Nigeria for example and can only think it is some sort of in joke in the UK which sqtarted after I left for France. As for crewgirls cery sensible suggestion of returning to the UK. I have thought about it but..... simply walking away from everything I have worked all my life to own is not an option. I am no quitter for one thing and I thought my original posting would prove I am willing to try anything legal and moral to keep myself so this is no joke or scam and if you re read my posts you will see I have never asked for money or anything other than sensible advice which is all I wanted and I thought the idea of this website was for that.

Secondly, I have lived in France for almost 8 years now and if I returned to the UK where would I go and how would I live? I would stil lbe without work in a financial recession and I would be homeless. I have been out of the country for too long according to the governement to qualify for any benifits at all and unlike immigrants as an expat would get no help at all with housing or health care or anything at all other people cross Europe to get having paid in nothing. I paid my taxes and stamps etc for all mmy working life in the UK and now count for nothing which is not right in mmy view but is fine with the government. I have no home in the UK or family and at least here if I can make a living here, have my home and that is all I am trying to do.

I have been working in a supermarket since 6am this morning and am in for lunch before returning until 5pm tonight lugging pallets and unloading them all the time for what is called a CCD contract ( there a re 2 work contracts in France CDD and CDI) CDD means it is for a set period only and I had this for July and August as it it the holiday period and everyone was going to be off, on Monday 31st August my CDD expires and I will not have work anymore as the staff of 400 will be back to normal without the 15 people taken on like me.

I have managed to find a lodger for the spare room with private bathroom in my house ( so I amno deadbeat and have a nice home and am used to a good lifestyle until recently) But must declare that and pay tax on the income leaving me with a little money but not much.

Hence my question about the chat line and in all honesty I have no need to explain any of this as noone can actually help me but me can they? So there is no scam or whatever going on and who cares if I have made a posting or not that has been counted? I have never been on this site before the weekend and I repeat was just trying to find out more about chatlines as I think it is something I can do without a French school diploma to keep myself.

If any one has a better idea I would like to hear it as I have spent the last 16 months trying to find a solution to my problems. Also if anyone has a problem with what I am trying to do or wishes to mock and accuse me of anything. Perhaps it is you who owns the problem? I have managed so far some how and with a few clients I sold houses to in the past have had some free vegetabels at times or a little help when tiles came off the roof, the fosse septique was blocked so I couldn't flush the toilet and things like that to keep my spirits up, but cannot sponge off them, as I am not that sort of person and I repeat, am just looking for a regular income to keep the roof over my head, don't you think I have actually suffered enough and at least deserve chance to get my self straight?
Thank you agai nfor the helpful and kind emails I have had and to the others I would simply say.
How easy it is to judge when you ar not in this postion isn't it? I would never have believed I would end up like this if you had asked me2 years ago so you never know it could be you struggling one day and it isn't much fun I can tell you.

I am pretty sure that chat lines are a thing of the past but I stand to be corrected. (Probably a few of the accountants will know...)

I must admit I am still amused by the notion that the French are turned on by English accents. Of course, we find French accents sexy so why shouldn't the reverse be true?

What do you reckon they prefer - Cockney? Geordie?, Brummie? The mind boggles.

When i made the comment about the posts it was not a direct attack on you. I have never seen it, but as someone said posts don't count in the intro.

The thing i don't get is that after reading your posts, you seem like a proud woman with achievements, and that lowering your standards to be come a sex chat line worker is below you.

There are loads of things you could do if you put your mind to it.
I would rather bake cakes and knock on peoples doors, than to speak dirty down a phone line.

Have you actually sat down and put on paper what you enjoy, your hobbies, what your good at?

How about sourcing proper French food to uk customers?
Organising French walking/biking holidays?

There must be something else!

Thank you for the message. You are right when you say I am a proud woman and have achieved a lot in my working life in the past. However things are very different here in France and it isn't just the language, it is the things you never knew before you need to know them like the fact that we were all told years ago in England if we voted for the EEC we all would able to work in another country. In England perhaps, but here they safeguard their own workers by insisting on a school diploma for the simplest of things like selling cakes in a bakery and as I wrote before I had to attend a days training and take 3 tests to see if I could work in a supermarket stacking shelves and lugging pallets around. I then had to visit a doctor of work who said if I was fit to work and could stand on one leg for example. I then had to have a interview with the human resources people and the another with the head of the section and eventually got to go to work for a fixed period of July and August and then am unemployed again and have to start sending off the 30-40 C.Vs a week for other work and that is a joke as the C;V here is a page with your photo and lists your diplomas so again if you don't have a school record saying you are trained as a whatever you don't even get an interview. I thoguht being bilingue would help but no if they want someone to speak English it will be a French person wit ha few words of Englsih not an English person who can speak and work in French. This is why most English people here work on the black as is it is called and that ofocurse means they have no rights and in my opinion it is wrong and not helping anyone longterm.

I came here to sell property and worked for an estate agency for over a year and then the owner was killed by another employee ina head on car crash one evening so moved to another agency and he had no clients so I got the business going and he sold it. Of I went again to another agency and ofcourse you are only offered commission only work, so if you don't sell you still need to pay your "social charges" of 1000 euros per month. At the end of 2007 I realised the market was dead and stopped paying to go to work.

In March of 2008 as you know from the other postings my husband realised Mme Credit Agricole was not going to have money to keep him in the maner he was accustomed and cleared out the bank and left for Redruth or that area I don't have an address and in April I started work 3 evenings a week at the local airport when the Stanstead flights began but that finished in Oct 2008.

Then I was a nanny or skivvy looking after 3 kids after school and usually half the school turned up as friends and I got no extra money and no money in the hols so this summer when thye broke up I knew I needed to look elsewhere.

I was lucky enough to get work last August in a lovely shop in Angouleme who attract a lot of Englsih customers and the owner thought it would be good to have an English person. I lasted 1 week as they had cameras on the staff and he was able to show me I spoke English to a couple for 8 minutes and they didn't buy anything not "remembering" they had bought 18 curtains the day before and were in fact talking about a lot of kitchen furniture.

SO at Christmas I tried doing instore demonstrations for mangoes and did one day the wednesday before Christmas and they were hard as rocks and you would be lucky ifd you could cut them before the new year. I went back again the Sat after Christmas but we sent home at 9.45 as I fainted through lack of food and so didn't get paid.

SO there you have it. I have tried everything I can think of and apply for any jobs I see regardless of my past jobs and hav managed somehow but still need to sell my house and if you know anyoen looking grab them quickly as it isn't easy to sell anything now to French who are suffering as they are not allowed big loans, credit cards etc and ofcourse as we all know the rest of the world is in recession. I just thought working on a chatline would get in regular money and be flexible but more important safe as I would be miles away from any lunatics ( I hope) I know it is not exactly glamourous but I cannot live on thin air and so now have a young lad who is working in the area to get his practical experience for his diploma and needs a place in the week and will go to his parents at weekends which will help me a little bit.

My priorities are to get more regular income and sell my house and then I can downsize and start afresh as in truth I am a bit afraid here of my husband but that sounds very weak and is not something I would admit to generally but am telling you all anyway, so who cares you may as well know I am only human too. I try to be brave and put on a front when I am called to the Mairie or the other official bodies and try and stand up for myself but inside I am jelly and it is not easy as everyday there just seems to be another problem and no solution.

I have had many adventures since all this began and life is never dull, but none of this is Frances fault and it is a lovley place to live I am just unlucky a the moment and trying to as always clear up a mess left by my husband. Please don't tell me I will meet another man as that is the last thing I need as I do not with to become a walkng bank account ever again. I just want a chance to live a modest and quiet life here and thought I had found a plan which might work but needed help I suppose sinking still lower and to be fair I have had some helpful messages and hope to get some more and if all else fails I can then if I have to try this line of work, what have I got to lose? Gosh reading this I sound an idiot but there you have it you said I was proud, not now I am not I am not. I was wearing a friends jumpers last winter as my clothes were cut up when my husband left and he emptied the oil tank so I had no heating, cut the phone line so I couldn't even ask friends for help and so on, so I now know pride goes out of the window when cold and hunger walk in the door. I have lost count of the people who see me and say they don't recognise me now and are then forced to say something kind when their faces say " Good grief you look terrible" But for all this I am determined not to give in and will get through this eventually and any help is most welcome.

I am more than genuine I assure you as noone could make this mess up! Advertising and marketing are the first things to be cut back on in these financially hard times and I am in the middle of rural France not London. I am suck here and have to do what I can with what is available as I have tried to explain in my last post above. It is easy to have ideas when it isn't your head on the block and that id how it feels right now. Anyone in business now if they are over 35 which I am is not going to suddenly be swept off to a great career. I have met a man with a very small business in Anglouleme and am giving him Englsih lessons as he wishes to attend shows in America and English speaking countries and expand. I can help him but he is very small and I have also contacted the others in the group which is connected to the chamber of commerce here and exports goods but they are all too small to employ somoen and I am trying to get an appt with the head of the chamber to offer my services to them as a group, translating and so on but am not able to see him at the moment as it is August and everyone is off on hols.

As you say this is abusines forum so imagine I am a product lke any other how would you deal with making it successful? I enlcose my edited highlights fro mmy C.V and see what you can all come with. Bear in mind thoguh this is rural France and although I am bilingue it is not going to be easy. I welcome your comments if they are sensible and not unkind, pointless or plain rude.

Come on why would an employer care if you are attractive, have a good figure and have money in the bank.

If you have achieved what you hav achieved then you wouldnt be stupid enough to put that in a CV.

Let me guess your waiting for some poor sap to confess there love for you and in return you will happily empty there bank account.

Read the posts people how many times has she mentioned how sexy attractive and rich she is.

BAN her

BusinessIdeas

Either way I hate to sound hard, but this is a business forum, and this isnt really about business its about playing a game which I have seen and recognised many times before called [urlno="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transactional_analysis#Why_Don.27t_You.2FYes_But"]Why Dont You? - Yes But![/urlno] Its popular game in forums and a total waste of time. We could all play spotting the game 'why dont you? - yes but' in lots of other threads too :)
