how can I ask for a big discount from DHL?

40-50kg clothing each time ship from China to USA, and once 2-3 days. I think it is quite regular, can I get 70% off from DHL, I've ask the official but they can't offer that price, where I can get a big discount?

Sound like you already have!

If you are shipping that quantity that regularly, use a freight forwarder, not courier.!

Ring FedEx and UPS and speak to a sales person, then show them your DHL pricing.

Get some pricing from both of them which will most likely be cheaper as they will want your business - all the better if they take it off a competitor!

If you still want to use DHL then go back to them and show them said pricing offer from UPS/ FedEx - which they will generally beat to keep you.

Worst scenario you should have cheaper pricing from one of them at least!

You need to search around, you have asked DHL who have answered. What you need to decide is what you want, a speedy courier service or cheap price? Also your shipments are relatively high for DHL in weight terms, such couriers prefer small parcels and target 1-15kgs in particular, since they can shift more consignments in the same plane.

Your price expectations are probably unrealistic for just two shipments a week, try a freight forwarder who can offer a consolidated service if price is more important than speed.

Agree with the weight breakdown as in UK the 32Kg weight is where a big price increase comes in so two 25kg may work out significantly cheaper and also double your shipments making it more attractive to the courier

Who arranges shipment, it may be cheaper arranging from the other end ie China or the USA

Talking about UK shipments in the context of international imports is not really of use. As the charge is per kg rather than on a set weight basis. The package split would be true for UK domestic, however this is again not the case for international.

Breaking it down will not be cheaper. The space on the plane is calculated via Volumetric weight being charged so that's not a factor.

Shop around then go back to them with any better prices and see what they can do.

Have you asked the factories you are using to get you a price? Chinese companies can usually book freight with the major couriers cheaper than you can get it from here.

By the way, if you've found a distributor / agent in the US, make sure you have your tax in order. If you ship direct to the US without bringing your product to the UK first you must pay taxes in the States.
