I am looking to put a website on the net & been told to us HostPapa. I was going to use ipage.

Can anyone tell me if tey have used anyone of them & if so how good are they.

I've never heard of either of them but that isn't to say they won't be good for you.

You will get better advice from members if your elaborate a little on what your requirements are. For example, what will your website be used for? A few static pages to gain a web presence? A constantly updated website to inform your customers of important news? A CMS platform incorporate a blog (like wordpress)?

How many visitors do you anticipate on average each month?

What budget did you have in mind?

Thank you for helping. I have never had a website, this is the first one, so I am still learning & in need of help.
The website is all about my horses, 6 in total that I have took on as rescues. There is a lot of informations on horses, health care & what it involves to keep an horse. Lot of photos with the horses & with the vet & farrier. There is a donation page if anyone want to help with the horses. I want to be able to do a blog once it is up & running. Not sure what wordpress is. I know I have to find this out & will do so tonight.

Any help at all would be most welcome.

It sounds to me like an open-source (free) content management system framework like Wordpress would be ideal for your requirements.

I don't know your technical level but you have said this would be your first website so forgive me if I dumb this down a little to much.

Put simply, Wordpress (and other CMS like it) are a framework that allow users of all experience levels to get a decent looking website up and running quickly and with minimal hassle. It also then provides an easy to use interface that allows you to add/edit pages and posts.

Best of all it is now so widely used that there are a million and one hosts out there that provide packages that will support wordpress.

Thanks for the mention LTT.

It does indeed sound like you would be better off with WordPress as it's free and easy to use, so you can keep the website updated without pulling out your hear.

For a web host, I recommend Vidahost (I have an affiliate link in my sig, I get paid if you buy using my link). The support is excellent and they do have a one click install of WordPress to get you started.

Host papa are legit and are seen as a top 10 host in the world. I have friends with them and have never heard any complaints.

A lady told me to look at Vidahost last night & heard it was a good host.

hostpapa have a 24/7 live chat support. A must for any host, none of this having to wait days for a e-mail response. Yes to the above.

best way for new web designers to build a webiste is 'moonfruit'. Google it, you can practice building until you feel comfortable and then purchase it. You also get a free domain name and its like just copy and paste instead of CSS code or learning HTML

Considering you're just starting out, why don't you just use wordpress's self hosted version and forget about separate hosting?
