Hello you wonderful and intelligent people. I sincerely hope you are doing well and i very much hope you have another great week.

I find when i am working from home, i do web designs and affiliate marketing, that my routine is not very good. I mainly get washed, then jump onto my laptop and i get carried away with my work. So i find my breakfast is at 11am, lunch at 4pm and then my evening meal at 10pm. I do schedule in a walk at around 6pm for a few hours with a relative to try switch off my mind. I kindly wondered what routine works for you please, it would be interesting to kindly get some ideas from you? Further what would you say is the amount of hours you work daily, as i know a recent study states that office workers are only productive for around 3 hours a day, alot is talking with work colleagues, taking breaks, checking emails etc? If anyone kindly had any thoughts on this i would be forever grateful for your input.

Wishing you all the best in your business goals and hope you achieve massive success. All the very best and take care.

I keep my morning routine to a minimum to make sure I can follow it on a daily basis.

I usually wake up about an hour before work. As soon as I wake up I walk my dogs for about 15-20 minutes. When I get back, I have a light breakfast which usually consists of 4 slices of avocado toast or scrambled eggs & a cup of coffee. When I'm done eating I hop in the shower.

Everything takes about 45-50 minutes, which gives me enough time to get my PC ready with all my work stuff.

I try to keep the same routine, but it doesn't always work for me due to the sudden deadlines I can have at work. During the week I normally wake up at 6:00am, exercise, get washed. Around 8:00 have my breakfast made of honey, toast, boiled eggs and apple or banana. At 8:30am start working. 9:50am have a desk exercise virtually with work colleagues. 11:00 refresh myself with orange or pomegranate juice. At 12:30 have lunch. 1pm carry on working, having few breaks until 5pm. After that I go out for a walk or jogging. At around 7pm have dinner with the family, and sleep at around 10 or 11pm. On the weekends the routine is very different, I spend more time with the family and also developping my & wife's businesses.

I get up and make a cup of tea. Feed the cats and chickens then mess about on my phone for an hour. Or two. Get dressed then fire up the pc. Do a bit of project work until lunch. Then faff about until tea. Watch dumb TV and go to bed.

Two hours work per day is enough to pay the bills.

If LinkedIn is to be believed, the key to success is

    Get up at 5.00 AM
    Meditate
    Exercise
    Light breakfast
    Network
    Power-meetings

    etc etc.

Personally I think it can be a bit dangerous trying to follow other people's routines - you need to create something that works for you - whilst letting you enjoy the freedom of flexible working.

Just for reference, I do have a few 'good habits' I try to embed in my home days. They include:

    - Read non-fiction before starting work. (I'm not into business motivation stuff - can be any non-fiction, currently happens to be geo-politics)

    - A simple exercise routine.

    - Dog walk at about 10.30 (I don't need to remember, he demands it)

    - always have a glass of water available.

    - If nothing is happening, or I'm not 'feeling it' shut computer and do something else.

That works for me. It probably won't for others.

It is too easy to get into bad habits. Too often I find myself still in a dressing gown at lunchtime as I decided to 'take a quick look' at something before getting dressed. My wife (who also WFH) does the same sometimes.

I don't think there is a magic formula, but something I do know is that 90 mins is the maximum that one can properly concentrate on a task on a screen. After 90 mins take a break, get up, walk about, walk the dog, or whatever. Resist 'this is only going to take 10 mins to finish'.

Posting this at 1.30am, paying a Dart Charge before I forget. ?Use to be a regular 1-2am bedtime but pulled it back to pre midnight.
Wake up about 8, get up before 9, cup of tea coffee or ginger and lemon infusion, couple of boiled eggs, rye bread toast and occasional fry up.

It doesn't matter if I start at 9, 10. or 11am, as we are always working a couple of weeks ahead. Late orders kill the routine. though and we've had too many of late.
Some days I wonder where the time has gone and work late or weekends but I stopped beating myself up and making promises to myself that I'd become more efficient years ago.

Interesting thread as Ive started my new job this week (mainly working from home) and today is my first day working from home (having spent the rest of the week on site or in the office meeting people, having inductions etc).

Ive been at my desk since 5.45am. Im a poor sleeper - once Im awake, Im awake - so I decided to crack on. Ive never really done home working before - even during the pandemic, I was one of three who continued to work from the office. So, as someone who likes a route, Im going to have to see how mine settles as I get into the role.

The best thing I ever did when I started my first business was get a small office space because it forced a work routine, because when I work from home I work solid stupid hours and do not stand up, don't walk, don't eat, don't stretch my legs. I go all consuming into the work, unrelenting. I do everything I advise others not to do.
So for me, leaving the house and working from an office around other people is best for me. It then forces me to get up from my desk to go get a coffee, to walk the office and talk to the team (or in the old days in a shared office, those from the others business-es who shared the office with), go to the sandwich van/cafe.

I don't have a routine, never found one that works for me. (typing this in my daughters business premises on the farm so I'm away from my home office so that I'll take breaks to chat to her, tend to the horses, take a break)
