Hi All,

So I want to link build and advertise on other websites. I called a web design company and asked about them designing me a banner. They said it will cost £50 for a static banner and £100 for a flash banner.

What im trying to find out is;

A. Is that the correct price?

B. If for example I contact a company and we agree terms for the banner to be on their website. Do I need to provide them with a code and then they get their website design co to put it on thier??? I really do not understand how it works? :eek:When I get the banner designed will they email it to me and save it on my computer??? :|

My website is www.Epiccvs.co.uk and I want to put the ads on recruitment websites

Help pleasseeeee!

Check with different companies on pricing and quality then ask for sample designs (if they can provide). Also ask about how many revisions they provide for the price. Some provide 2 revisions and ask more money for extra revisions.
The other way is Check their designs and mock/sample banners for your site. If you like and afford the price go ahead..:)

There is no set price which is applicable to everyone..so normally it differs from designer to designer.

Mostly,
Owner/webmaster of that site will take your banner and upload to their server and display it on their website.

or

You can upload the banner to your server and give the banner link to the owner/webmaster of other website (where you want to advertise). They may just call the banner on to their site using simple html tag
Code:
<img src="http://www.domain.com/banner.gif" width="" height="">

hope that helps

Well I can definitely tell you now, that I wouldn't charge you anywhere near that... that is a lot of money for some web banners! If you'd like to send me an email with your briefs for your web banners, I will send you a reasonable quote back.

In the meantime, I'm sure you will get more advice of others about how to go about asking to advertise on your specific sites.

I can also, post some banners up, if you want to see what I've done in the past for my customers?

Hope I've been some help.

You may not do but the price quoted aint bad.
£50 for static is reasonable if your going to get a quality job.
£100 for flash is fine too.
I know companies that charge around £200 for flash.

The more important point is link building doesn't need banners. You can use them but the value wont be as high as using direct text links.
Also ad serving companies will have no link value what so ever.

Hi All,

It depends.

There isn't going to be one market price for something like this. Assuming you'll be paying per impression for the ad banner, then wouldn't you be willing to pay 50% more for a banner that attracts twice as many qualified clicks?

If this is the case, then you should choose designers who know how to create such banners.

The only way of knowing is through split-testing and seeing which approaches tend to win.

Therefore, you should ask the designers if they've done any split-testing of ad banners for both clickrate and conversion.

If the answer is "no" or "what is split-testing?", don't hire them. They don't know how to produce the result you want.

If the answer is "yes", ask them what sorts of conclusions they've drawn and what sort of message and design do they recommend.

If they can't come up with something sensible as an answer to that, they're probably bull****ting you about having done any split-testing.

Again, walk away.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Thank you everyone for your imput. Im seems the price I have been quoted is about right then, I just wanted to ensure I was not going to be paying well over the odds!

I now understand how infact I can give have the baner placed on other websites, this forum is very helpful, more so than the design company I spoke to. I asked how does it work and their reply was 'We can sort all that out for you' what? It seems I can easily do it my myself!

Anyway on to my next question if you wouldnt mind?

Is it possible for some feedback as to getting a VERY rough idea as to how much I should pay for;

CPA- ?
CPC- ?
CPM- ?

It would be very helpful indeed!

Thank you in advance

OK so a website has come back to and said..

They would be willing to work on a CPA basis and would require £2.85 for every converted sale. They would charge for every visitor that buys online for up to 90days? is that normal, I though its just when they click through? And a set op fee of £40+VAT is that about normal?

If you could share your feedback that would be great

Many thanks,

Scott
