We are just about to send out a load of introductory letters to potential clients for our art prints. The letter has been written by a copywriter and he says we should have a second page showing a selection of images from our collection on www.fotoviva.co.uk

I'm thinking of having an A4 sheet with 18 pictures (3 columns of 6) of thumbnails on.

Now I know what my favourites are, but I would suggest a wider view from other people may be better, so if you have a few minutes I would appreciate you taking a look and either posting the url of the product page or the image.

That way I can build up a good selection, and perhaps get some feedback and promotion at the same time ;)

Thanks,
Spock

Hi Spock. Personally I think this is a great idea ;). Those pictures really sell themselves and look great.

I'd go with less than 18 pictures and just use a few larger ones. If they're bigger and more detailed then prospects can get a much better feel of how they will look. Some pictures won't be so breathtaking if they're squeezed into a 2x2 inch square.

It's really tough to choose. Personally I like this one, this one, and this one is quite unique and great looking too.

I'm not sure that this comment will be much help .....

but, those prints are so good, stunning in many cases, I would say you can choose absolutely any of them and make a good impression. the black & white ones are atmospheric, the animal ones capture character, the car ones are creative - whatever you choose you will not be making a mistake.

Therefore - I guess it is a case of tailoring to your market. I guess that your target market is broad and so your range should be as broad as possible rather than just being a landscape, or car, or animal specialist.

some of my favorite pictures are the ones of muhammad Ali

There is one picture that really stands out in my mind and one I will never forget. Only the cyclists will really understand this picture properly .

I think it was the 2001 tour where the US postal team spent most of the day pretending that Amstrong was in trouble and was ill.

Later on in the day the postal team really up the pace and left everybody standing on one of the big catagry climbs .As Armstrong overtook his rival he stood up on his padels and stared Jan Ulrick in the eyes before hitting the climb and gaining enough time to put him way ahead of his rivals

The Armstrong story as people know is one of most amazing tales in the history of sport .At 25 one of the worlds best riders he was dying of cancer he had a 25% chance of living and then did the impossible .He came back to win 7 tours .This picture for me paints everthing this this great legend is

Jeremy I don't think you read the post did you? :D

Kez, thanks I was going to use one of the rose prints as they are quite popular. The Big Red tends to sell more than the one you suggested.

Stephen, thanks for the positive reply! We are gunning for interior designers mainly so I guess the arty shots will be best for the letter.

Loofah, yes I was thinking of offering a discount for UKBF members, how much shall we knock off? :D

Redballoon, funny you pick that one, I wasn't sure whether to add it to the site but we have sold a canvas print of it already :)

Thanks for the replies, keep em comin'

If it were me I'd invest a little more and send out minidiscs with a watermarked slideshow.

If not thendon't put the piccies on page 2 - have them as a right column on both pages. My fave is 'Fire Flower' but that wouldn't look so good on the promo material. So option two is 'End of the Day'

They are all stunning and impossible to choose.

But, perhaps you could break them down into moods or themes for your brochure

Flowers to fit in with a romatic or calming atmosphere
    Cars Aspirations.
    Landscapes Tranquillity.

That way you can target a wide range of peoples moods, dreams, desires the lot!

Just an idea that might help you choose.

Thanks Graham but I wonder if people would bother to look at a disc? Not sure on the costs involved either but I imagine it would be prohibitive. End of the Day is another nice one!

On the letter I have a few images along the top already as a teaser.

Funny you mention that first one - Behind The Sun, I have a huge 2m wide canvas print of that sat in my office. It was done as a promo but if you want to make me an offer... ;)

Thanks Jeff, very interesting! You folks have a wide range of tastes indeed :)

Are there any types of images you would like to see on Fotoviva? Bearing in mind we are predominantly photography based and don't have access to the tennis player scratching her behind image ;) :D
