Help I need some sales!

Hi

I having been trying to get my business off the ground but have no money to invest in marketing, has anyone got any tips of how I can make some sales?

The site looks good it looks really professional and trustworthy. Advertising - yep it is a constant thing to let people know you exist. Do it daily, and weekly check results.

- You can introduce a referral system, eg; ''tell a friend to buy this service / product and you'll receive commission''.

- Make use of paid and free classified sites and directories to advertise your business.

- Social networking: create a twitter account, add people but never spam as it puts people off.

- Offline you can do door to door flyer posting.

Try Business Networking, to get known locally! it dosen't necessarily bring instant results as it means building relationships.

There are several different ones like 4Networking, BNI, FSB etc should be only roughly a tenner to test the water but I would recommend that if you did like and joined up then to treat it as a marketing investment rather than a cost.

Hope that's useful

Web solutions. I am not sure what this means but what i would is

Start typing in names & addresses on say an Access database. Target prospective co's that compare well to some of your reference accounts. To start with contact only categories that you feel comfortable with. Set yourself a fixed number of contacts per day that you can cope with, to set up, telesale or mail shot. Once you have contacted say 100 businesses, check feed back, response.
Cost - your time!;)

I have tried telemarketing in the past - I outsourced it, I had a list of 1000 local businesses and not even 1 sale come from it.

There is a big clue here that something would need to change if you were going to do this again.

It may be that the outsourced resource simply didn't do a very good job or it could be that the list wasn't very targetted in the first place.

Certainly for websites I would suggest targets relevant to the current website status and not just by geographic/industry/size of business.

Hope that helps and good luck :)

I think cloudweb needs someone in to sort his whole sales process out which is beyond our scope. His portfolio looks ok but there is a real boom in people looking for web sites at the moment and he should be taking advantage of it.

Sorry but just don't understand this, if you are the expert in Web design, SEO etc as your site suggests (unless i am looking at the wrong site), then if you cannot make your own site work, it's not a great advert for potential customers

People often get mixed up with design, it's not only how good it looks but how well it fits it's purpose in life, with most web sites it's how well the design sells the product or make the buyer look deeper into the site

Its not all about building online presence, you can use offline methods to get sales as well.

Try setting up a local meetup group for your area helping local businesses with Web exposure / Design tips ect. (or whatever it is that you offer) Get a local group established and hold a monthly meeting where you give free advice on your specialties to your local business community. Once your group is up and running you will be surprised how much work you can source from something like this. I have used my Meetup.com group with great success in my local area - brings in most of my clients and I get great referrals from my existing clients. You could start to offer a free website health check where you analyze a clients site for free and offer recommendations on how to improve there site, giving you the chance to sell to them directly.

Another thing you can do to get sales is offer your existing clients a referral bonus to get you more clients...

For e.g. I have used this method lately to get more business from my clients by offering them a £100 shopping voucher to any successful referral I manage to sign up for my services.

A £100 next voucher is a cheap price to pay for a new client that brings in a nice bit of work. And you will be surprised at how many clients send referrals your way to get a £100 Voucher

Just a few things to think about OFFLINE, most businesses overlook the power of offline marketing. ;-)

I dont agree on some of these comments. I dont think web design and dev. is a saturated market. If you look at many web sites around, there are mostly out dated. Most business tend to neglects their website with time. Websites are a trend now. Its like fashion they keep on changing. Clients and potential clients will know if your site is out dated and that will give a negative message about business.

You will need to contact these business, you will have to talk to them your self and tell them why you think their site needs a face lift. You are the best sales person so dont think any tele marketer would do this bit for you. Be honest with these websites.. this is one way I can think of. All the best !!!
