Hello

I was hoping to pick your brains a little bit. I have been creating capital through my other business recently to invest it into a cosmetics business startup. HOWEVER this is an industry i haven't got much experience in. I'm looking for advice on how to get from where I am now to selling and distributing my products worldwide.

My knowledge is very basic and i would like to know more. For instance what options have i got when it comes to creating a product? What regulatory bodies do i need to get my product tested by in order to sell worldwide. How would be best to distribute products worldwide? Public Liability Insurance? (Questions are not limited to the above!)

If anyone on here has done something very similar i would love to have a chat with you too enhance my understanding.

Thank you in advance for the comments!

It's a very long and slow process that has to be taken step-by-step. It took Nivea (Biersdorf) about 100 years to become a World-wide leading brand.

I appreciate that however to begin with i would be specialising in a very niche market, which i have great accessibility too. I just need the product at my disposal. Which involves creating a product to all regulatory standards for international sales. Which is where i lack knowledge.

Many thanks for the responses above!

The reason you are not getting any specific answers to your questions, is that they are far too broad.

Options? Contract manufacture, self manufacture, etc., etc., etc.
Bodies? Different for every trading jurisdiction. EU and USA being the primary targets.
Distribution? Where does one start? That is a HUGE subject!
Insurance? Again, big subject for cosmetics!

I have a friend who runs a small cosmetics company. She started small and is right now slowly building up the company, step by step and of course, learning as she went along. That is what you have to do. Either that, or get a job with a cosmetics company and find out the ins-and-outs along the way.

Your questions read a bit like someone saying that they have bought a boat and now want to know how to sail the thing!
