Happy Saint Georges Day!

Cracking! Although you'll probably be branded racist.

Thanks, pictures can't do the flags justice but with the town adorned in them and a gentle breeze they look great.

Funnily enough we never have the racist card played, just congratulations for a job well done and supporting England.

We are also lucky enough to have traditional Christmas lights rather than Winter Festival (or whatever), hold a traditionally English and non-commercial Victorian Extravaganza at Christmas which attract 10,000 visitors to the town and is wholly paid for by local businesses and embraces English Christmas traditions. And we are the only town to still "celebrate" Hocktide.

We are an English town, we celebrate and embrace being English :)

Hope you all had a great day?

I popped to the Marstons Brewery in Burton who held a fantastic day. For a £5 entrance fee you got:
1/2 Pint engraved glass tankard
3 included 1/2 pint tasters from a selection of 16 beers all of which are brewed by the Marstons group.
Brewery tours
Live band playing some v.good music
Falconry/Pony rides
Easter egg hunt
Old vehicles including a line up of Minis (all English built - none of your BMW rubbish thanks)
Lots of St Georges flags and a good family atmosphere.
I have to say I was very impressed and what a good celebration of what we can do in England (UK). The beer was excellent and it helps if you know a few people as the free beer extended late into the afternoon and I'm just getting over the hangover now! John Marston would be proud!!

Morris dancing traces it's roots back to Spain and was popular in Scotland in the Middle ages. The Scots probably lost interest because they feel more comfortable in a skirt :)

I think I'd feel more comfortable in a kilt than I would dressed as a morris dancer, while prancing around waggling a little stick. But maybe that's just me...
