Grants for Advertising

Are there any grants out there to pay for advertising?

I have 2 businesses, one is a new Ltd less than 1yr old. The other is as self-employed.
I have spent my time during covid setting up websites and now need to promote them, ideally via google ads as that suits my business model.

Are there any grants that can help fund a portion of these marketing costs? I have read online that you can get funding to set up websites, but can't seem to find anything to help fund the promotion of them.

Can anyone help?

Why would someone give you a grant yo advertise?

To help grow my business faster, which would ultimately lead to a job being created sooner.

I here all the time that there are grants out there, but some of the things that grants are available for, I can do myself, such as website creation. I don't get a return from google ads until at least 4 months after advertising, that's my stumbling block. It's cash flow. It's waiting for the return each time, which is why I thought there may have been a grant to help fill that gap.

I have a marketing strategy, I have a tried and TESTED plan, and it works. It is cash flow to grow at a faster pace that I am short of, rather than having to wait, which is the nature of my line of work.

Mark, I only joined this group today, and this is my first post. To say I don't have a coherent marketing strategy just because the profit comes at a later date, is totally incorrect. Every business model is different. The gains for my business are greater than most, even though it comes 4 months later.

Yes, I know I can get a loan, but I wondered if there are any grants available, as that would be even better.
I did reply to you but you appear unable/unwilling to provide the details :(

As I said without more information it is impossible to give you any meaningful help due to the myriad of options.

I have got grants to the tune of millions for clients, but without the information needed to find them I would not have got a penny for them :)

Hi Old Welsh Guy, I'm a little confused, there's only 3 mins between your posts, and you didn't ask for any information, maybe you didn't hit post to something you had written??? What information would you like? You say I am unable/unwilling to provide details??? You only posted about half an hour ago, and you haven't requested any info? Can you shed some light? Thanks.

Why don't you speak to your regional/local business support services and ask them what grants and support are available locally if you can't find grant information online.

I haven't seen grants available to cover your advertising costs. If it's a cashflow issue why don't you look at invoice factoring/start up loan. @D50Ready

I can't talk outside of video production because I'm in video production. However, I saw someone who received a government grant to shoot video. So created the content to market their business based on taxpayer money.

The way they did that was through R&D tax credits. They created a concept sufficiently different that it qualified for R&D tax credits. The element that they used was to say that the training and educating element of this fell under the R&D tax credit scheme and they were paid thousands to create 'educational' video content which they then used to promote their business.

Another one of my customers has a government grant where the first stage is entirely dedicated to shooting video.

So free money exists for creating video content which is then used as advertising. And yes, I'm sure some of that money ended up as advertising as well as creating the content itself.

They don't so much cover advertising as 'marketing' which can include online spending.
I know lots of people who have got grants for marketing. But they all needed a marketing plan that showed the benefits of the product.

Setting up and selling on websites probably won't meet the requirements.

There are loads of grants at local level and some can bridge marketing gaps, for example, some recovery grants at the minute would support a project such as a new website.

If you're looking for PPC budget then vouchers do exist from Google albeit £50, PPC spend is very hard to acquire as it's highly volatile. Nothing stopping you chucking in a Broad match keyword and Google i.e. pacman eats your budget!
