I don't think the impact of having the +1 on your website is that huge at the moment, but what I hear from SEO people + google is that +1 will play a big part in rankings in the future, So worth making sure its on!

Hi Alexa, see the 1st thing Google+ is just a Social Networking Website, there you cant generate backlinks (same as other social networking site as facebook, etc.). It is used for generating traffic on your websites. It dose not bring Backlinks or Page Ranks - but it can bring Reviews.

Hi,

Although still in experimental mode, Google will soon be rolling out the +1 button on their search engine results pages, adwords campaigns, and in other arenas on the web. This is google’s attempt to use recommendations from friends as a way to tailor search engine results. It may also be used in future google algorithms to determine which pages rank higher.

Google +1 is similar to the facebook “like” button, and will most likely have larger implications for search in the future. There are early indications that webpages using the +1 feature are being indexed faster by google. This is always helpful when you are writing content consistently and want it to rise quickly in the search engines.

A nice feature of the google +1 button is that it can be fairly unobstrusive on your site. As you can see, we have added at the end of this post on the bottom right (it looks like this ). You can easily customize to some extent, showing how many +1s you have and making the button larger if you wish.
Overall adding the +1 to your site is straightforward and would appear to have some advantage with google search. In the seo game there are so many little factors that add up to ranking strength, so why not add another little factor to your site?

I haven't got round to adding this to my site yet but just had a quick play with it on the homepage.

However, when I +1 it, it isn't showing up on my Google+ stream.

Any ideas?

Why?

It's just another social networking thing. None of the others have had a huge impact on marketing, new business, business development and so on so why is Google going to be any different.

Caveat: there have been some successes with facebook and twitter and all the others but they are the minority. Most business takes place outside the social networking environment.

Now are you talking about Google + or +1 ? Seems like there is a little confusion.

Google + is the new social network they've developed - so far they havn't allowed for "Business pages" (like a facebook fan page) and just have personal accounts. (I'm personally very keen to set up one when they announce them)

+1 is broader tool where people signed into google can +1 a site - kinda like a Like from facebook but for the whole web. These also show up in Google+

Just thought I'd say that as seems like people are thinking they are one and the same.

I do like Google+ - I've been interacting with internet stars a few times who normally would be tricky to get hold of.

On a side note - anyone had any experiences with using the Huddle feature ?

I was speaking to one of my account managers from Google the other week and although they told me the button is not having any impact at the moment once the algorithm is changed and the update introduced, sites with Google+1's will see a big increase in their rankings.

TBH I would take this with a pinch of salt as if the button is not used then the algorithm would need to change again anyway and Google are always going to promote their own products.

What type of account manager? Are they a google engineer or are they involved in algorithm development? If not then their statement was hearsay and worthless.

Any signal open to manipulation wont be used as a ranking factor

Just search the web and see how many plus 1 you can get for $20, or just and see how many networks you can join for free and click each others sites,

Although i have the Plus 1, i dont really get what real benefit will be going forward

Certainly worth while adding as it will have a larger effect as time goes on.

It will be added to our new sites, but mainly on blog and information pages to be honest. I don't like to see loads of add this buttons plastered all over a home page.
