Hi Guys

I've had my Magento site upgraded to a newer version and my Dev done work, on improving site speed etc.

Thankfully on Desktop I'm Seeing thing are passing and I'm getting lots of Green/Good Pages (Over 6000) Appearing with some Need Improvements (1000 odd) These seem to be flocculating atm

For Mobile I'm Failing :-(

But I'm getting lots of Needs Improvement/Yellow Results (Over 7000)

My question is, because I'm seeing these Yellows increase in number for mobile, with no Reds appearing, is this actually a good thing or a bad thing? Obviously we are working to get Green/Passed for both Desktop and Mobile, but I'm just courious on how to interpret the results

Because you are using Magento you are unlikely to ever go green on mobile. It’s a slow platform by default and has dozens of server calls on each page load (which Google doesn’t like).

If the pages rank and you are getting traffic which then converts I wouldn’t worry too much about your scores.

Magento is certainly very heavy software. You are limited a lot by the software itself in many ways but some of the issues Google flagged you will be able to correct/improve.

I would focus on fixing/improving as much as you can.

The only thing to take from the result is the more green the better. It may or may not effect your performance in Google but the more you can resolve the better for both the user and your changes at increased performance in search.

My ultimate goal to have Mobile in the Green, as my competitors are in the green :)

My developer is looking at ways to improve mobile, hopefully we can do enough to get a Pass.

but my still curious to know if the increase in my needs improvement score in mobile is a good thing or a bad thing, as my site definatley faster since the upgrade.

If you look at the pages indexed report, it will show you how many pages are listed, whilst the web core vitals will show you how many are getting enough traffic for google to assess them.

This will tell you how many pages you could have in yellow or even green.

Should be possible to get all pages green, even with Magneto.

You will not ever get all green in mobile. Not with Magento.

How are you scoring your pages? Is this some sort of official Google thing you have installed?

Looking at the official tool your site fails - with a performance score of 52/100

I think he's looking at webmaster console.

If his competitors are Green, he should be able to manage it.

Did you get the same 52/100 score on your homepage as me?

Getting that up to 95 whilst using Magento is an almost impossible task.

    Yes

    Homepage - 89 Performance
    Mobile - 53 Performance

To be Honest I'm more concerned with category and product pages and less about the home page

Also the new site is only live a week. The blurb on that says it takes a full 28 days to get a true picture, so maybe things will change for the better then?

Google doesn’t care about the internal pages. Everything begins with homepage.

But I’ve checked a number of your internal pages and they all fail. Scores are all around 50/100.

Your score is unlikely to get better without major changes to how the pages are assembled by Magento.

Rather than expend nugatory energy (and money) chasing this, you would be better of getting the site to rank.

I needed a part for B&D mouse and your site didn’t even show up on page one. Nor did you appear on eBay where I eventually brought the part.

Good news. Do they also show green on the web.dev page speed tool?
