Yes, They are doing updates to search results so that users can get proper & exact information for which they are looking for. Google also tried for preventing spamming on the search engines

i have to disagree with the OP here.

Google has many different data centers and most of them (not 100% sure if all) - are running slightly different algorithms.

These are practically changed on a daily basis.

Like [FONT=arial, sans-serif]fisicx[/FONT] said, most of the updates you wont even notice, but occasionally you will get a big noticeable update change.

And it helps that now more and more people are looking out for these changes so they get reported more

No you are not. How can you be prepared if you don't even know what it is they are changing. In any case, there are changes happening every day.

All I can say is plan ahead. If you were Google would you like the content you have?

Do you keyword stuff or use black hat seo techniques?

I always stick with natural seo and I dont do it in a bulk way. Touch wood I have not been a victim to a Google update as of yet.

I also safeguard myself by building my traffic from other ways instead of just seo.

Something I must admit I am pleased about. It got annoying with all those 3 page adsense sites with their indian content that was just useless.

And I find that you can tell what google likes and dislikes about your site via google alerts. If they don't index it you know there is something wrong with it!

Yeah.. They are making updates all the time.. I think 2013 is the year to watch.. lots of site have gone down in 2012 and still some months are left. Its becoming strict on its search engine polices day by day.....

I don't know where are you getting the statistics, but FYI Google rolls out 500 updates a year. Not all of them are being announced though.

well what you are saying is absolutely right, there were lots of major updates this year... Especially Panda and Penguin update which have made a huge impact on seo.
