Has anyone used it? I am going to try it in a few weeks after i have had a few banner made.

Just interest on the potential ROI you may have experience, did it heavily increase traffic and how much did you spend. I just want to here some experiences of using it, any hints or tips?

Re-marketing is an excellent strategy to use for AdWords campaigns...

In simple terms it allows you to target prospects that visited your website and performed certain actions but didn't convert...

...you can use the Google Display Network to target this "audience" with specific ad messages.

If used sensibly and creatively (and without spooking the user out by following them everywhere they go) it can produce great results and is a very useful addition to any AdWords account.

As a result of casually seeing how much tickets to England vs Wales was going to be I am now being stalked by banner ads featuring Joe Hart and Wayne Rooney. I can see it being a really useful marketing tool, just not so sure I need to see Wayne Rooney's face plastered all over every page that I visit!

Anyone who visits SEO Moz will also be very aware of this particular technique, I have to say I think these guys have gone a bit too far with it and crossed over into "actually that's pretty annoying" territory.

Absolutely, in this case when you occasionally visit the blog and are nowhere near making a conversion, getting prompted all day long can be a bit annoying. It's a great tool, don't get me wrong, but to be used with discretion as you rightly say.

Completely agree, you can decide the type and frequency of the messaging based on the type of actions the prospect took... so in your example visiting a blog post isn't a clear action of you entering into their conversion funnel.

If you went to their sign up page but dropped out of the funnel then a different re-marketing strategy could be used.

It is this:

You visit a site, say Vauxhall's for example. Google knows you have visited it. You go to another site which on which google owns the advertising space (its like an online billboard hoarding). Google puts a Vauxhall advert up on that site because it knows you are interested in Vauxhall products. You move to another site on which Google also owns advertising space and it does it again until you go somewhere where Google doesn't own the advertising space.

Ads can be image/moving or like the simple adwords ones.

Essentailly ads follow people.
