Google Plus shows you what website are recommending the persons you are connected with, and google +1 has an important role in the new google ranking algorithm. using +1 you can personalize your search experience on google as well

Just for the record. After having received an invite from goliveuk (thank you!) I think that there is no need to use invites to enter Google plus. In any case you'll need a Google account to join. Whether you were invited or not makes no difference as far as I can see.

You'll have 150 invites in your account after joining but it seems that this is simply an email notification sent out to people that may be interested and that points them at the google plus entry page, where you could as well turn up without an invite.

So nobody should feel left out.

Hi

if someone tries to signup who's not had an invite it'll be rejected. the reason you could signup as your email was in their database.

Thanks for pointing this out. If someone needs an invite now, send me you email via PM.

I am sure the invites like Gmail invites will soon be open to the public, I wouldn't be too worried about it, Google Plus is in its infancy so I wouldn't fret about not having an invite just yet

I'm really enjoying this Google+ but I don't have a great deal of contacts in there at the moment.

I like the idea of Circles and it's well-thought out from the perspective of privacy. This has been a real problem in the past on Facebook. I don't always want my aunty Jan to see all the posts to my friends.

I've also managed to hide my friends on there too so that people can't view who I've added to any circles.

Anyone else played with privacy settings?

I've managed to make use of my invite, yet I've found it quiet at the moment. I appreciate that it is new and will take some time to get going but most of my 'friends' are sticking solidly to FB.
