Interesting article here about Google acquiring the price comparison site "Beatthatquote.com", then subsequently having it's SEO techniques questioned and being forced to penalise the site.

I was wondering about this - might have got the wrong end of the stick but surly one of the reasons it's gone down the page is the news reports on the site.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying BeatThatQuote was a little on the blackhat side but if you search for them now the sites that appear above them are very high profile news sites (Which Google favours anyways?)

Just seems that no one is taking this into account ?

Good on google. Bought a site, found out it had black hat SEO, so it penalised it.
