Google analytics in Wordpress

it's really simple to do it but the plugins will have extra features such as seeing your data in the admin panel etc.

To just add the code to your site, go to appearance > editor and find footer.php

in that file look for </body> and input the analytics code before that.

Thanks Faevilangel.

So would this then capture all activity on my wordpress site? For example I'm planning on having affiliate products on my site so it would be able to track the click through's etc?

It will only capture those visitors who allow cookies. Which will probably be most of them but there will be some who escape the net.

And you won't know what searches they did to land on your site either as google has this thing called 'secure search'.

Personally I prefer clicky.com. It's a far far better package than google analytics and provides a lot more detailed data.

Nope, been using it for years and never had a problem. The spy feature is excellent, real time Analytics of your visitors.

No, it's not very difficult to set up Google analytic in wordpress websites. Using Google analytics you can easily check your website traffic direct and referral etc.
I must disagree, for me it was quite hard, as I had never used it before it was very confusing, I spent about 3-4 hours just searching the web for a nice guide or a plugin that would suit my needs.
