Noticed this recently. Alongside an AI answer to a question it also lists recommended companies. This seems like SEO/PPC within the AI results. I appreciate that the results are not shown fully at the start but it represents an interesting development. My first thought was how I get my company's name into the results...thoughts?

Does your website rank well for the search query?

I’ve noticed the AI results tend to be for the ‘how to’ type questions.

It's just in the midst of a rebuild but from and SEO and PPC viewpoint, having AI now recommend companies is a game changer potentially. You're right about the how to questions but now it seems to be adding 'And these companies can help you with this' below. This is a massive change for search IMO

if you already ranked for the search then the likelihood is you will be chosen for the recommended company.

That being said, for local searches the map still dominates.

A search for 'plumbing suppliers near me' returns sponsored listings and the map pack.

A search for 'how do I install a boiler' returns the AI offering and references some websites (plus a load of videos).

A search for 'where to buy a heating pump' returns a load of shopping results.

It seems that what you see in the SERPS is directly related to the type of query.

Not for me. Google search in Chrome on Windows.
Google does what Google does. Which is why no two people ever see the same results.
