what happened to tudor crisps? they were great!

i still see a lot of golden wonder up here, though I lso see a lot of walkers

i have to admit, i think the imagination has gone out of the crisp market and it seems they are now very expensive too

I read that Walkers took a huge slice of the crisps market when they pushed through a massive ad campaign in the early 90s recession when everyone else (including Golden Wonder and Smith's Crisps) were cutting costs and ad budgets. Walkers were the only crisps being advertised and with no competition they came out of the recession really strongly. A lesson to other businesses who always cut advertising first when things get difficult - bad idea. When there's less noise it's easier to be heard.

Golden Wonder got bought over a few years ago by my favourite crisp company of all time (a company that most of you will never have heard of). They were bought over by a company called Tayto from Northern Ireland (not to be confused with another company called Tayto from the Rep. Ireland)

You are right the Golden Wonder brand isn't about much these days but I recall seeing some Golden Wonder ripoffs of Pot Noodle in Tesco a while back.
